after my 7 hour drive yesterday i need some help

Featured Replies

Drove up from south wales to stevenage yesterday picked up some wheels off v5-steve over the moon with the wheels and he seemed a top bloke even though his dogs were after me lol.

Right there 17inch wheels what tyres will i need to go on these 1st of all

Then secondly im not putting the wheels on until i sort some suspension out i dont really wanna pay a bomb does anyone now of any used kits floating around im open a sec whether it be springs, or coilovers etc just want to reduce the ride height so when i put the wheel on it looks the best and will get a better feel for how the wheel actually looks.

Also do other kits fit off other cars fit so i can can an eye out on other forums and ebay

cheers

205/40-R17 tyres :)

eibach pro springs will lower the ride height by about an inch and will stiffen up the suspension a treat! Dont cost that much to buy, see if you can get a group buy started on here. Also if its handling your after get hold of a jabba sport rear anti role bar! top bit of kit mate!

You want 215/40 R17 tyres.

The first picture is standard, 2nd one is lowered on Eibachs...

ah thats sweet mate how much did that cost, whats the difference like in ride quality too

so is that 205's or 215's or is it down to personal choice

how about the koni kit on awesome gti is that not as good or would 40mm be too low with the 17's and give me problems, only i notice its cheaper to

as for 205's/215's it depends on the rim width

Konis are a good call mate, are they cheaper? or do u mean just koni springs?

  • Author

yea just the springs

Not sure, i no the Koni suspension set up is good. Must people seem to fit the eibachs tho. If your thinking of upgrading the rest of the suspension at a later date then it may be worth getting the Koni's.

if you lower the car, then use it hard(track use ect)i have found that using 215's destroys the inner arches, but for the extra grip they giv,it is well worth the agro

ah right ok cheers

hopefully i can find a nice second hand kit soon

there aint no rush plan on keeping the car 2-3 years

I just sold my kw kit for 250 :(

Id look into the weitec kit, springs and shocks. According to weitec its a 20mm drop but my car dropped this much

And they are green so match the vrs calipers and they are only 258 quid

Used Eibachs sitting in my shed, check the FOR SALE section please :)

Oh and if your running eibachs id go 215 width and coilovers 205 ;)

Assuming the wheels are the proper offset and width

Eibach springs only, cost £152 inc VAT and delivery. Fitted them myself

Ride quality is exactly the same. I would even go as far as saying its better than OE.

I have 215's fitted to 7.5" wide wheels. I havn't had any rubbing issues at all.

If you were to go lower than that though, id stick to 205's
