Featured Replies

Hi guys. Im just after some advice. Im 20,21 in feb and thinking about buying a vrs at christmas time. Just wondered if you could give me some advice etc on the vrs and what its like. My mate has a mk4 golf gttdi and there basically same as vrs aren't they??

Anyways,thanks for your help.

Hi mate, to be honest theres on need to think about buying 1!lol! You just buy 1!

Yeah abit like the golf! is your mates a 130bhp PD? then will be the same engine as the Fabia!

Excellent proformance, plus you get good mpg( i always around 55mpg, even when booting it:rofl:)

Get yourself a test drive! Your love it!

Plus i got mine at 21, insurance £770 with 1ncb.

Cheers!

Yeah his is the 130bhp. Fast car.

Find a local one for sale and go take a test drive mate even if you're not ready to buy yet... will give you a good idea :D

Golf I would say is a better car except maybe for handling and possibly acceleration.

I doesnt have any of the character of the little Furby though.

MK4's are rather dull.

Do it! Keep saying it to people - most fun you can have with your clothes on!

Same here, I'm after one, but, being picky - I only want it in 'Race blue', the SE version, that's if I can find locally. Seen a few nationally, but they're anything up to 60 -90 miles away.

a man with taste there, but if s31vrs comes up for sale, even if its next door, don't buy it,it really has had a very hard life:rofl:

60-90 miles is no distance to travel for a car! I went that far for mine, and it wasnt anything special.

Anyway, take one for a spin, see how you like it. Fabia is much like the golf, but bit lighter, smaller, and imo looks nicer. Quite economical, although some peoples versions of "booting it" and mine must be different, since in two fabia`s, i can easy see sub 40mpg figures when givin it some, all down to how you drive it tho.

I actually don't mind travelling a fair distance for a car - it's the hassle of test driving it before deciding yes or no.

Talking of the Golf, I'd say the Fabia is a similar size to the car I currently have - a Seat Ibiza Cupra. Was parked next to a Fabia on Saturday at the Promenade Stages Rally, and they are a similar size.

yeah, my mate has a ibiza, pd130/240 now, there same size. Shame mine dont go like his lol.

After having a good look around both, I'd say the Fabia is a touch bigger than the Ibiza, especially in the engine bay - fabia has more room to work.

Just go and drive one.

What are you driving now? No doubt the vRS will be faster and most likely more economical. Also insurance will be way less than anything else with even remotely similar performance.

I've just bought one and It's fantastic! Power is there whenever you need it, very easy to drive in a relaxed way and very easy to drive quickly! Couple of times I've thought I was doing half the speed I actually was. It's a good all rounder. It's practical, economical, fast, reliable and is a quality product.

The best part about vRS and the reason I bought it is that if you're in the mood and want to put it to go, no matter how hard you push it, it still averages 40-45mpg. That can't be said for someone with the petrol equivalent.

Seconded:thumbup:

Phenomenal combination, real 'Q' car all round. There are of course faster, sleeker looking, better handling, more economical and spacious cars but nothing quite combines the all round balance of these that vRS does.

Ear to ear every time you get in one!!

All I can say is go for it you should not be disappointed

I've had my vrs nearly a year now and it is by far the best car I have ever owned, it puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it, you will not be disapointed.

I am the same just coming up to a year and never looked back love it

^ Same here... just over a year and loving the car... by this time with my Corsa 1.2 I was fed up of it AND that did LOOK a lot more appealing than the furby.. but nowhere near the same drive!

I've had a tuning box on and now on standard power and it still feels quick

There is so much you can do to the vRS mate, simple things like a leon cupra splitter, pd160 intake and green cotton filter are a good start, then there is the re-map, bigger brakes, strut brace and ARB can totally transform the car.

I was quite lucky when I purchased ours, it was already re-mapped so save me a bit of dosh.

Hope you find the perfect car and I can say with confidence the smile will be on your face in a years time still.

I have to say i agree with the comments in this thread, but will add a couple of my own, the guy who said he gets 40 45 MPG when caning it drives like a girl i can get it down to 15,all you need to do to have a car way more capable than it has any right to be is re map, big brakes, coilovers, jabba rear arb and a lsd with these simple mods very little will keep up on either a twisty b road or a track
