New Watch!

Featured Replies

Hurrah! I've been waiting for this for about a month now. I was looking for a watch to replace my old G-Shock G-3310, it's been a sturdy workhorse for the past 5 or 6 years, but it doesn't keep very good time.

So I commenced an interweb search for a worthy replacement. I settled upon the G-shock GW-9010 Mudman as it's solar powered, for long battery life, and it has waveceptor radio time signal technology for accurate time keeping. it also has some sort of fancy Rally timer for motorsport enthusiasts.

The only trouble is, You can't buy this watch in the UK:( So I saw this as somewhat of a challenge and it made me want this watch even more! Why does this happen?

So a month later and the watch is delivered from the good ole U S of A for £90. I'm well chuffed with it.

I don't think it's big enough.

Looks nice that. I hope you're both very happy together

On another note, you don't know a good place for G-Shock spares do you? I need a new strap for my G-2000 and want a genuine Casio job...

It's actually smaller than the 3310 which will take some getting used to.

Steve, I did find an Ebay shop that sold spare straps etc for G Shocks. I'll try and do some digging to see what it was called. IIRC the straps for the newer G shocks are custom fit so you need genuine parts.

Edit: I think it was this one, but it's based in the US:

Reminds me of that joke

Man wants to know the time stops an old chap hobbling up the street with a shopping bag in each hand

"Do you have the time please"

Man carefully puts bags down rolls up his sleeve to reveal state of the art watch

"I can tell you the time for anywhere in the world. Also the weather conditions in Europe. It doubles as a remote control for my TV and also has a built in switch to remotely access my garage doors"

"Thats fantastic!"

"Yeah but the ******* batteries are heavy" he said picking up the bags

Ok,I'll get my coat:D That Watch looks unbreakable, just don't lose it

They still make them?

They still make them?

What? Watches? Yeah, people tend to find them useful for telling the time with.

They still make them?

What do you mean, still? It's the cutting edge of timekeeping technology this you know!:D

Long live the G-Shock!

:woot:

Nice G-Shock! Was considering one as a daily watch but chose a ceramic Rado instead. Has most of the functions of the G-Shock but can be worn formally too.

One thing I love about some of the G-Shocks is that they automatically adjust the time every hour, meaning pretty much perfect timekeeping!

Good choice with the Rado Irf. Always liked those, something a bit different. And very well made too; I know someone else who has one and has nothing but praise.

For the job I do it's perfect, I went through a ton of watches prior to getting my first G-shock, as i was too tight to splash out for a G-Shock work watch. I'd never have anything else now though.

The automatic update feature uses a lot of battery life and you have to leave the watch near a window, and perfectly still during the update, so not as practical as it seems. Still an awesome feature though.

For posh, I have a Raymond Weil Don Giovanni, and an Omega Seamaster planet Ocean, to choose from, but the G shock still wins for practicality.

I sooo want one of these

Double Eagle Chrono

But I'll put it in the "if I win the lottery" category and I'll have to stick with my Diesel steel that needs a new strap :(

I love my Baby G. This thread almost makes me want to get it out again.

Not again, Pix, i was traumatised after seeing it last time!!!

But what was wrong with it? Was it too big? too blue? just plain didn't look right? I have to know.

It was the size of it that shocked me!

Whatchu talking bout? It's perfect, take a look.

Is it just me who finds the waveceptor thing a gimmic... why dont they just make a decent watch that can keep time in the first place.. rather than using cheap internals that keeps needing to be updated and charge 3x as much for it
