Oil below $100 a barrel

Featured Replies

You also get less Diesel out of a barel compared to petrol so I woulod think that's why there is such a price difference, lots of petrol, not so much Diesel.

Only because the cracker is set up to do it and the derv is just waste that they don't want.

If you set the cracker to make derv, you could make almost no petrol and a lot of derv from the oil.

well brent crude closed under $99 last night.

Good, but we are still not seeing it on the fuel station prices.

This lot really do deserve a slap for taking the Pi$$ on prices now.

I always understood that there was a 4 - 6 week delay in the pump price after the oil has gone down, so we 'aint gonna see any proper reductions until mid October at the least.

Don't they purchase it for next months delivery?

Funny though how if it goes up by $5 a barrel, it increases at the pump quite fast but coming back down takes a good month?

I agree, the price has steadily been dropping for the last month, but the Derv round here is still at £1.23 - robbing barstuards...

Still 123.9 here.

I find the up instantly and down as late as possible plan infuriating, but I bet their shareholders love it.

Saw 139p for derv last week up north!

 That is shocking. I don't think it was ever that expensive round here...

They're milking it whilst they can as either it'll run out, or we wont need it as much due alternatives.

Hence rich arabs buying anything they can to keep cash rolling in.

Yup, but that was lochinver. The cheapest petrol was just down the road from me near Aultbae at 118p so seeing the 139 I though a) thank F i'm not using diesel and B) thank F i'm not desperate for fuel!

shell in newbury dropped a penny this morning, dropped just before i filled up :)

108 just outside edinburgh this afternoon.

local shell which is normally the last to go down is down to 114.9 u/l and sainsburys dropped 1p to 112.9

The Lehman Brothers bank in the US has just gone to the ****ter. The $ fell against everything. Gold has gone up so oil probably will too when they shift their money back to commodities.

also america has lost a weeks production which also will put it up. but as i type this oil has fallen to 98 dollars a barrel.

Because they think the US and a lot of the world is going to have more chance of taking a dip into recession on the back of this and as such don't want oil as the demand will be going down.

just need the rumour to start now that america has surplus oil and watch it drop

currently $91 a barrel, could be getting back to cheap fuel sooner or later. anyone know what we were paying per litre when we were at $91 whilst on the way up all those months ago?

From what I can remember, the Diesel round here seemed to track the price of oil or thereabouts, so $91 was 91 pence ish, funny how it's $91 but still £1.23 even though it's been dropping steadily.....

$89 and more speculation that it will tumble tomorrow, oh happy days are gonna be here soon if it carries on and if the garages get their ar$es in gear and follow suit

They won't drop it, you know this.

They got over the £1 barrier and won't ever let it go below this.

We are being screwed and they love that they can do it. It it went down to £1 a barrel they would still charge you £1 a litre and then blame other costs they made up, including the guys huge bonus.

The usual British thing will happen.

Big outcry in the press. A couple of MPs will pretend to care and they'll drop the price by 2p when it should come down by 20p.

We'll all trot off happy and the chairman buy a new boat off the 18p a litre extra he's still caning in.

Either that or Brown will up the duty when the price has goes down to be 'green'.

Sir Edmund is a guy I like. He's on the motorists side and has some great ideas that the Gov should utilise.

Why did he leave the RAC though.

It's like this. It has been proved that no matter what fuel costs we will still buy it, so why would they drop the price???
