My skoda Felicia 1.9 diesel has died...:(

It's a 2000my the last of em I think !! and for some strange reason the car was fine one night well it took a long time to start ??? then next morning would turn over and won't fire...changed glow plug relay and replaced three of 4 heater plugs but still no joy. left to recovery service and garage have had car since monday and are struggling to find out why it wont fire......any ideas out there ???

I'm think 2 things here:-

1) Immobiliser.

2) Why is this in the Tech Shed and not Skoda Support -> Favorit, Felicia et al?

Thanks but vehicle does no thave an immobiliesr fitted to it and I dont' know why this is in here, but then again I have only just joined...sorry.

The most likely case then would be an air leak into the low pressure fuel feed I think. I'd have expected a garage to check that before starting in on the pre-heater system though.

thanks for that, I have spoke to the local garage who have now had the vehicle running albeit on brake cleaner at first. but they have had it running under its own steam afterwards. They have notice some arm thats on the end of the pump with a ball socket on it but nothing connected to it. is it something to do with advance and retard mechanism? but whatever it is looks like its not been connected for a long time, so they aren't sure if this is affecting the running of the vehicle.

It could be, but you need someone more familiar than me with the fuel pump on those cars to answer that.

My Xantia you'd have reached that sort of conclusion quite quickly, but the thing I disconnected was a damper that stopped the throttle closing as fast as I like it too.

that arm you mention sounds like the idle boost valve actuator, strange thing is i thought they were automatic on the lucas pumps, it may have had a different pump fitted to it at some stage
