COOLANT SENSORS (felly Diesel 1.9)**

Featured Replies

Ok this is a follow on from my last saga on the starting problem when the engine is hot.. Well i tried the coolant sensor plug and pulled it out (conection that is ) and behold the engine burst into life almost imediately, although the glow plug light came on, purely because the sensor was disconnected. So now my Question is to all you Felicia TEch's out there what would happen if i was to replace the green banded sensore witha yellow banded sensor. would this cure the problem or not. My only other solution would be to fit a switch where i could disable the feed to the sensor to allow me to start it when hot, then fick it on when its going thus giving me a temp readout on the dash.. ALL INFO WELCOMED. and thanks :)

just try a new sensor first, it's not unknown for new ones to be bad, besides, you can get the sensors of ebay very cheaply anyway

I had a yellow banded one on my 1.9 Felicia

This was because I had gone through 2 or 3

All it does is make the glow plug light stay on

Even when it was warn the glow plug light came on

But I just waited for it to go off then start it

I never had any issues

Worth a try

I'd trust any advice I got from either Tom or Sarah.

HI Sarah well i bought a new sensor and thermostat and replaced my coolant with some nice pink stuff. but i still have the same problem starting from hot. so im gonna rig up a swithc to cut the feed supply to the plug that goes into the sensor. just gotta find out which 1 of the 4 wire i need to put the switch in on.

This really cheesing me off NOW.
