Little Laptops

Featured Replies

I thought this thread smelt bad!

lol these little laptops are great. i took my webbook to trax this year and while it was raining i hooked it upto my phone and uploaded a few photos of our stand. mainly of one of our reps looking like he was sh@gging his car lol!

i have to confess to using it whilst on the loo too though (although i must point out im NOT there now!)

Ahh laptops on the crapper are one of modern lifes needs these days, the Daily Sport just don't get a look in anymore.

I use my N95 or PDA in the loo to email others.

Ross, are we talking ???tube.com?

DaveI,

What do you think of the Advent 4211? I've been considering one myself...

DaveI,

Brilliant, thought i'd use it sparingly as I have two other laptops to choose from but have used it non stop since I got it! The screen is much brighter than the other machines, you get about two - three hours worth of work out of the battery. Web cam, blue tooth, wireless, easily upgrade the ram to 2gb, erm erm? The full stop key is too small is the only criticism I have at the minute!

Got mine from PC World in Team Valley if you are looking for stock.

just use a mobile, much easier.

I think they could be called webtops

Got one too for the missus, as she was bored of having to lug a full sized one.

They are great, and fast, the battery is about 2 1/4 hours worth of work. And fast!!!

I think they are actually an MSI product, but rebranded to Advent (which is PCworld's own brand).

Would recommend it, although I have only used it for 2 weeks

I thought it was laptots?

Slightly OT , but anybody know where I might be able to beat PC World's price of £200 for a base Acer One 8.9" ?

Got one today, Thanks! :D

Let us know what you think!

If you got it from PC World did they try and sell you Anti Virus, MS Office, Carry Case, A bigger more expensive laptop, extended warranty. they did with me and the bloke look quite depressed when in the end I asked him if I could just buy it please as I wouldn't be purchasing anything to go with it. :)

Forgot to mention, when I first powered mine up it would connect to the wireless access point and then drop every five minutes. Connected it to the network with a bit of Cat5 and ran Windows Update, it found an update for the Realtek wireless card which then fixed it.

Just in case you have the same problem.

Thanks, Dave.

Wont get a chance to play with it tomorrow but I'll let you know.

I got it from Currys in the end... Thought I would try there before having a run up the M1. Thanks for the advice re the update, no doubt I would have been throwing it at a wall if you hadn't told me! :)

I've also read of a problem where static electricity can prevent them turning on. As I understand it the newer machines are not affected, but if you find it wont switch on then the cure is to remove the battery and press the power button... Then replace the battery and it should turn on as normal. Hopefully the newer machines are not affected.

Cheers

Phil.

Got the 4211 from PCworld last August- great piece of kit. Updated all the drivers from the manufacturer's site and it worked flawlessly...

Was recommended by someone IT on this forum, and I'm glad I listened...

That has affected all laptops since ever :)

Shows how interested I am in them!
