Spot on you need to make up your own mind. Surprised at your comments though RDX - I find the build qulity is superb - road noise wouldn't know always have a CD playing ;).

Seriously though can't say I've noticed any road noise - what year is yours ? Mine is 2005 (June) and have yet to find anything tio be unhappy about :thumbup:

Headlamp washers are a standard fit on the Elagance :)

Hi Skoda62,

I can't believe you haven't noticed any road noise, but I suppose it depends what you have been used to.

That goes for the build quality as well. I didn't say the quality was bad, I just said it's not as good as pre 2004 VW.

BTW, mine is a May 2007 and on some roads where I didn't notice much road roar in the Passat the Octy is loud. :thumbdwn:

Maybe I'm a bit sensitive.

RDX :)

maybe I'm just not tuned in to these things and prob wouldn't bother me if I did :rofl:. As I say the CD playing can cover a lot of noises ;).

Yeah again same witht he quality maybe - depends what you're used to - previous cars were:

Escort 1.4 LX

Toyotal Carolla (awful, truly awful car)

Toyota Carina - huge. massive boot and very good fuel economy for a 1.6 Petrol and that size body - but the controls looked like eastern bloc designed with oversized lego bricks

Nissan Priemra 1.8 s - gettin better now - good spec, fab fun to drive but poor fuel economy.

and now the Ocy 2.0 TDi PD Elegance - and it is streets ahead of any of my former cars. Even something as simple as closing the doors - nice satisfying thunk and felel of quality. Glad I made the Purchase.

If you go shopping at AC then all I can say is go with your eyes open. I wouldn't discount them altogether though.

I wouldn't be taking a skoda to AC for a service but might suggest they put it through their workshop and then see how it drives. You do get some cracking deals from AC, just don't expect very much for a trade-in - they still need to make the same margin as everyone else.

I did have a look around AC site in linwood - it was new years day so only security guards around which was good. There was a surprising number of people looking around and plenty of mondeo estates. My mate got his octavia from AC for about a £800 less than I paid for mine (similar model) and they didn't have a clue it had a 6 disc auto changer, front fogs, air-con and things like that. He got a bargain as they had obviously given someone a shocking trade-in in those days when they wouldn't know they were decent cars. I reckon if they had a skoda franchise they might take more care to prep and shift them.

I have a four year old 1.9 MK II TDI Elegance hatch with approx 55,000 miles on the clock. I have a love/hate relationship with it.

It is my second Ocky, previous was a 1.9 TDI SXL MK I which I had for four and a half years and nearly 80,000 miles. It was almost without fault.

I test drove a MK II and fell in love with its handling. It is a delight to drive but it has had its reliability problems ranging from a faulty wiper arm on delivery to disintegration of the flywheel three weeks before the end of the three year waranty. All fixed no problem by the dealer but a bit of a hassle all the same.

Fittings etc are great and I like all the boys toys:- rain sensing wipers, rear parking radar and self dipping mirror.

The new climatronic is not a stable as the MK I but once you have got used to it is is fine.

Overall the love wins.
