I'm toying with the idea of trading in my 05 2.0FSI Hatch, just out of warranty now, for a new one the same, or a 1.8T Elegance hatch. Where would you go for best deal? Preferable in south or southeast UK !

If its a main dealer you are after purchasing from I'd 100% recommend Palmers Skoda in Watford - the best price from all that I haggled with. Great aftercare too.

Plus if you do it before Sept 30th, you get free upgrade to L&K model if you buy an Elegance!!

Above poster is right, make use of the Skoda offer.

Would you consider a diesel?

Is that specific to certain dealers only or something then as the below text is straight off the SUK website under offers for the Octavia hatchback/estate?

"One free specification upgrade available only on a Octavia Classic (excludes 1.4 16v 80bhp) to Ambiente or an Ambiente (excludes 1.6 FSI 115bhp tiptronic) to an Elegance or a 4x4 (excludes 1.9 TDI PD 105bhp) to a Scout, (hatchback to hatchback or estate to estate) provided that the engine size remains the same. Offer available only for orders taken up to the 30th September 2008. Retail sales only. Subject to availability. Please ask your retailer for full details. Model shown is an Octavia Scout 2.0 FSI 150bhp 4x4 at £18,900 RRP including optional metallic paint at £375 RRP and front parking sensors at £265 RRP."

Nope. 2.0FSI again or 1.8T

I'll vouch for the 1.8t! Easy to chip up to 200bhp anyway.

Haven't they stopped trading or are about to?
