Wiper fault that's annoying me

Featured Replies

When I got Rhoda my felicia 2 years ago, the wipers worked fine on all settings. After a couple of months the self park packed in and also the intermittent setting.

Have tried new control unit in fuse box, new motor, new switch. All the wiring appears to be correct (have gone through with continuity meter)

Any ideas?

Is the self-park switch part of the motor on Rhoda? You've tried everything else I'd normally think of!

Pass - what am I looking for?

Both the original motor and the replacement are identical, so I may have the wrong motor then!

I don't have a Felly!! If you changed the motor itself, the switch and the control box you must have changed everything except an external self-park switch though!

Interesting! Have been through the wiring diagramme in my workshop manual and there is no other parts in the system. Could be one of the new parts are duff!

I believe the self-park is in the wiper motor itself so I'd try changing that again.

Intermittent setting is controlled by the tall relay in the fuse box.

Right My relay and both motors work, tested them on another Felicia. Identical part numbers, so the fault lies in my car somewhere!

I'm puzzled as to where as everything seems connected correctly - spent ages with a test lamp and continuity tester.

I guess the only thing that remains is the linkage. Has that had a good wd40/greasing up?

Done that - have come up with another idea though.

My Scim has an annoying similar fault where the wipers DON'T stop unless they hit the bottom windscreen rubber as the linkage is getting sloppy, might be something like that!

That's not as annoying as the arm connecting the wiper motor to the first bellcrank coming off at speed in the rain. DAMHIKT!!
