demisting the car

Featured Replies

please could someone advise which are the best settings for demisting the car i have the elegance thanx.

Same as any other car.

To quickly clear a misted screen direct the ventillation up to the windscreen, temp up high and aircon switched on.

The Elegance has a one touch button to do this - the upper half of the left hand Climate control switch, but you do need to manually up the temperature.

To keep the windows from remisting keep the aircon switched on - on the Elegance that means the "Economy" light should be off.

If the auto setting doesn't keep it clear then use the manual overide button (top right?) in the set of 4 buttons in the middle to force the air up to the screen.

Do you have Climatronic or Climatic AC?

If you have Climatronic then there is a button for demisting the screen, that will overide all other functions and demist the screen in few seconds. If I remember well, it's the top button on the left knob of AC. After the screen gets demisted, press the same button again and previos functions will get back. I mean, if you drive with AC off, that button will turn it on and direct the air to the screen. It will also choose the fan speed. You don't have to do anything.

I have an Octy 2 TDI VRS. Does it have some sort of electric air heater to help quick demist the windscreen when the engine is still cold? My wife' s Freelander does.

Skoda doesn't do that.

You can demist quite easily with cold air. The reason for the mist is inside is warmer than outside. So make it as cold as outside, you'll solve the prob.

SWMBO can demist the Octy just as quick as I can in the works Mondy with heated screen! Snow and Ice however, the barge wins.

Errmm...

That ain't exactly true. The problem is that the air inside the car has high humidity and the temperature of the screen (which will be close to outside) is below the dewpoint of the air inside the car.

To effectively demist you need to reduce the humidity by use of the aircon and raise the temperature of the screen above the dewpoint of the air inside by using heat.

Hence your Mondeo has a heated screen not a refridgerated one :)

press the windscrren clear button and if you want the rear wires.

Two buttons in the left (passenger) temperature adjustment.

And don't turn ventilation off. I saw some people keep it turned off completely instead of auto&econ, makes the air inside quite heavy to breath, plus filled with moisture.
