Been lurking here in the shadows for a long time learning of your Skoda experiences.

Nearly bought a new Fabia vRS last autumn when they were launched but due to financial commitments I couldn't quite make it :sorry:

But am now on the lookout for a dealer demo or similar to purchase (may go new depending on the deal).

To keep me occupied in the meantime do any of you have the issue numbers etc. of any magazine full road tests of the Fabia vRS? I bought all the magazines when it was first launched and they had their 'first drive' reports but I don't have any full road tests or back to back tests against other cars (apart from Diesel Car mag's test which I think was about the first in the UK, unless someone can prove me wrong!!!)

If you do a search in google or similar that should bring a load of road tests up.

There was a test between the Fabia vRS & the SEAT Ibiza TDI Sport in Auto Express. I think it was issue 771 (3-9 September 2003).

Try Diesel Car Magazine. They have done quick reviews, a full review and I think they even had 1 on long term test.

You will probably need to be specific on the issue numbers, but then if you e-mail then they would be able to tell you.

Kentish; I've got the Diesel Car ones, as I used to get the magazine regularly until it got so bad I just couldn't be bothered to read it anymore. Have they improved again of late? Their website doesn't seem to have been updated for months or at least last time I looked it hadn't a week or two ago.

Hi Ghost, just to say i've just recently picked up my furby vrs and whatever performance figures you read, they just do justice to how quick this car is, although on paper it might not be so good as as other choices it delivers the power exactly where you need it, overtaking is effortless, oh and 50 mpg, can any other so called hothatch get close?

JonTDI: I'll try and get my hands on a copy of that Auto Express, sounds a good test as the cars are so similar.

JagUK: Glad you like your vRS, I'm quite familiar with VAG TDIs and know where you're coming from. I've not even driven a Fab vRS yet, my local dealer had a demo one a while back but I didn't go and drive it as I knew I'd end up wanting it and wasn't really in a good position to buy one at the time (spending too much money on the house lately).

Diesel Car Magazine went well downhill when they revamped the whole thing, but thankfully they have ditched the Diesel Diva. The magazine is getting better now than a short while ago so something has happened.

You should be able to get back issues of the Fab vRS reviews, if you can found out the issue numbers..sadly I cant find my recent ones as I now tend to give them away or recycle them.
