AirCon stopped working!?

Featured Replies

Hi

Anyone know why my air con is not blowing cold!?. Has been fine up to now.

Is it easy to fix/cost etc.

Cheers

C.

About a month ago I bought a "previously enjoyed" vRS.

On the drive home I felt the AC wasn't working - air coming out was lukewarm rather than chilled.

Went back to the dealer a couple of weeks ago.

They re-gassed the system but alas it still isn't working.

I am going back on Wednesday next week to have a new compressor fitted.

Thankfully under warranty.

Outside of warranty - £800 part, 4+ hrs labour as apparently nearly half the car needs to be taken apart to fit it!

Alternatively a re-gass of your system maybe all you need - cost about £50 from any garage that can service AC (even the likes of Kwik-Fit can do this).

thanks for the info. Yes, luke-warm air rather than chilled thats the same as mine.hope it just a 're-gas' it needs then. Strange that I never had this problem with the Mk1 Octy.

The mk2 VRs has a problem with the lower grill, in that large caliber stones can get past it, and into the aircon condenser. Other than that, the occasional compressor may die.

There's a problem with failures of the system pressure switches on 2006/7 Mk5 golfs and I had one go on my 07 Octy VRS

Yeah I've heard that too Foxy.

Well if the system needs to be opened up Im pretty sure I have a brand new dryer in stock, also have a new expansion valve.
