Just been to look at "97 Fellie 1.6MPI...

Lovely car ,but...start-up from "cold" produced a rattling similar to that of a diesel.

Noise was still evident after engine was fully warmed-up.

Head under the bonnet...noise seems to come from gearbox side of engine and gives the impression of a badly worn bearing somewhere.

On inspection of the servicing documentation, it seems that the problem was investigated in 2003, but nothing untoward discovered!

The present owner has used the car without problems ever since...

Anyone out there had similar experiences???

My Felicia's engine used to knock for about 15seconds on startup but I believe this was just the hydraulic tappets waiting to fill with oil.

Sounds like clutch release bearing failing, Does it co away if you press clutch pedal

Definitely not clutch release bearing...

No signs of oil leaks. Car had been standing for a fortnight, and driveway surface was clean.

is there enough oil in the gearbox???
