Leather (again) - Will you eventually get your money back?

Featured Replies

The leather interior question keeps on popping up.

Although I do quite like the standard interior on my Octavia vRS, I must admit that a full leather setup would be nice.

A quick email to Seat Surgeons to get some kind of "ballpark" figure before even looking at colours/designs etc gives me a price in the region of £850+vat, around £1000.

Do people generally think that an investment of this amount would see you get a "healthy return" with regards resell value?

Now lets say I'm selling my vRS in 3 years time (when it is almost 5 - just an example).

I doubt that I'd be able to sell my car for £1000 more than one without a leather interior.

But how much of a premium would you see?

£500 more?

I know it isn't all about the money - I just like the look, feel and general hard wearing of leather.

But it would be nice to think you could enjoy this level of purchase and then see some kind of comeback in the future.

You might get something like £500 back if you managed to sell to someone who valued a leather interior. Otherwise, like any other upgrade / option, it'll make no difference at all. Certainly, it wouldn't increase p/x if you went down that route...

You might get half that back if you were to sell it now.

On a five year old car , you might get a hundred quid or so , but at that age prices are so imprecise it would be hard to tell anwyay

The difference may be desirability, your car may not sell for much more but it may sell quicker.

Ask the seat surgeons for the special "no need for a receipt" price.

im not saying that they entertain such offers but;)
