My New transport

Has a feature that I just have to ask ....whats the point? ......if you stop at a junction a green light comes on and it will hold on the brakes on its own for about four seconds or if you move off it releases them, a sort of very short automatic handbrake feature  all it has done so far is anoy me

You've bought a new car with DSG??

I'd prefer a proper "hill hold" system, but that is the sort of place/time that using an h/b annoys me, is when I need to use it but know I'll only pause for a few s.

Well ......no ...but Its got a large badge on it with TDCi written on it

Sounds like a transit to me

 :P Tom put two and two together and made five  not sure what engine it has but it goes quite well ...although the power band is very very short

I think it's quite a good idea TBH. And it IS only on hills. And you have to have the clutch in. Whats also clever about the new Transit with "Hill Helper!" is that when you rev the engine when it's activated it is 'slower' to return to idle IYSWIM? Makes it a lot harder to stall it when pulling away on a hill start.

God what a saddo I am sometimes!

I drove a VW Transporter TDI recently and that was instantly familiar and very easy to drive.

Much better than the previous shape Transit and leagues ahead of LDV crap

I think it arriving the week I am "on call" may not be the best timing.... it may be used a little harshly.

It has a cd/radio with an AUX in AND it has electric windows  never had a van with electric windows before

Ooooh, an LX pack then by the sounds of it - same as mine!!

Not sure to be honest ....it has 85 T260 written on the back door......ten of them arrived and I got one

Awww, a lickle diddy one:)

In a "mines bigger than your's" styleee:

Mine has 140 T350 on the back:P Transit Jumbo with a torquey 140ps mota - good for sideways action exiting roundabouts (apparently):D:D

I have a hill holder on the fiat...

this is how it works, if you are in first gear, with the clutch down, and the footbrake on, on a hill of more than 5%, the ESP will hold the brakes on, when you let go of the pedal until you get bite, to prevent you rolling back....

you should of course use your handbrake in these situations (my learners don't even know it exists) but i use it when I'm feeling lazy ;)

My works van is 7 years old and has electric windows, remote central locking, electric heated door mirrors... 51 plate VW Caddy SDI.....

Pffft.. call these vans?

Bring back the old 2.4di engine i say

A van just isn't a van without a V8, 6 seats, machine guns/rifles in the back, phone, radio and a blow torch. Well BA's van in the A team had all that and was helluva fast

But I am still surprised that the firm actually paid out for them .....or maybe it was a job lot of vans and it all came for free

But as I remember it was always sliding all over the place......and they had cheap American petrol to run on

I remember having access to a set of mini buses. All were TD/D except for one old school transit with a proper bit petrol engine in it.

Went very well for a van and was always fun in the wet if you were a bit rapid with teh fast peddle.
