brisky drive: mpg?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

my PD170 seems a bit thirsty. This morning I averaged 34mpg, by covering 84 miles at 76mph on a often cornering and up- and downhill- highway.

I often went WOT, but from what I read many many briskodians enjoy higher mpg figures. Am I too brisk :D, or in your opinion should I check something?

Car has just 14K miles, remapped, first service done and is very fast (never too fast, anyway :D ).

Need to exchange your lead boot for something lighter.

My 2.0 tfsi stage 1 will return better than that on a and b roads, over the same distance....

poss a bit low mpg?

Mine is the same car almost, mileage mods etc. I too think about am i getting what I should? I get a little short of 400 miles driving around town. When i did London - glasgow -London I managed that on just over 1 + 1/4 tanks. I just know that driving my Mk1 vrs the same way around town gave me around 240 miles so see anything as a bonus.

Back off that right pedal a tad

Back off that right pedal a tad

hmmm, right but boring :D,

anyway this evening I managed to get (if the website used for conversion is right...) 50.44 mpg at an average of 75mph, on a 50miles trip, at max 100mph... then I got bored :D:D

This morning I reached about 135mph, perhaps that's why mileage dropped a bit... Sometimes, I look for a 7th gear...

Thats obviously on your private road of course

No wonder the mpg went down

of course... :D

... besides the web site conversion might be faulty :turtle2:

could check the air filter and see if it needs either changing or a quick hoover round ;) mpg that low could be trip computer, but personally i would be expecting minimuim of 40mpg out of your car if not closer to 55mpg. my petrol gets higher mpg.

Mid to upper 30s for Brisky driving is IMHO normal for a vRS TDI. Mid to upper 40s (or more) is only achieved when cruising or tootling about very gently.

Keep that lead boot to the floor and enjoy!

Air filter has just been changed during service...

but, no doubt, I wouldn't lift my foot else I wouldn't have bought a VRS :)

Thank you,
