Paint Codes - Race Blue

Featured Replies

Thinking about colour coding the grill on my Octy - anyone point me in the direction of the correct paint code for race blue

Also - is it the same method to paint the current chromed surround? Or does any work need doing on this prior to painting?

Cheers,

James

It is on the label in the boot. 9463

8X8X is Race Blue code.

I took my front grille to the local paint shop to get them to do it. Was much easier ;)

Not a bad shout! What did it cost you mate?

Paid then £30 to do it, good job they did too, properly keyed and sprayed in a booth. It's not chipped even after a thousand miles on the clock with it fitted.

Race blue is 9463 mate, trust me on that ;)

The only problem is that there are five variants of the race blue paint, depending on when the car was produced.

I know, as my vRS had to be almost completely resprayed recently, due to a numpty on a building site tipping concrete all over it

The body shop had to contact the factory to find out which variant my car was painted with, and to do that they needed to supply the VIN.

For most general purposes, the standard paint code will be okay, but to get an exact match, you need to speak with the factory.

Bagpuss.

As mentioned above check the sticker in the spare wheel well under the boot floor. That tells you your specific paint colour.
