help!

in market for new comp car, very taken with vrs 170 diesel. car will be provided by lease firm, meaning i need to aim for total lease price per month.

stock vrs 170d is ok price wise, room for some extras, but eventually will go over budget.

read on various pages that clim control, 18 alloys and cruise now standard.

skoda dealer without clue, lease co without clue, still quoting as extras.

need reliable source as current spec, car to be ordered early oct.

thanks!

The Maxi-dot is a very useful item to have as an extra as are the parking sensors (factory fitted) you get a little car shaped symbol on the radio display showing how far you are off the car / wall ect as well as the audible beeps as you reverse

thanks but dealer saying "i've seen no release, and not on website..." lease co saying they remain cash options on their system

Hi, I've just ordered a VRS CR170 through a major brand lease company. 18" wheels, Climate and jumbo box are now standard. They have also now included cruise control as standard. Plenty of information on the web about this and certainly JCB skoda know about it.

Waiting for VRS CR170 in red, maxidot and autodimming rear view hopefully in Nov.

Firstly, I'd say find another dealer. One call to retailer support would easily confirm what you know to be true. If they're not prepared to do that, then they don't deserve your business.

Secondly, the lease companies often have out of date information in their quoting systems. They rely on data provided to them by CAP, and in turn, CAP rely on the data provided by Skoda. Given that Skoda announced the changes on the 1st of September, it's quite possible that CAP haven't updated their systems yet. Even if they have, some leasing companies only get updates from CAP once a month (it's cheaper). Others will get weekly updates.

In any event, if you get your dealer to confirm that the extras are now included with the car, then the lease company can do a manual override on the prices. Mine did when I recently ordered a new Superb, and CAP had got the prices wrong.

Bagpuss.

Cruise is standard now as I was told by my dealer.

Simple - don't order any extras, and as they're standard they'll come with all the stuff. I don't see what the problem is?

problem doing that is spec list from lease co says NOT standard.

You could also get caught out if the dealer doesn't factory order a car. Although Skoda have been giving these options away free for quite some time, there might still be a car knocking around that doesn't have them.

Keep putting pressure on your dealer, or failing that, just get the leasing company to speak to a different one. They're not all this crap.

As a final thought, does the spec. list from your lease company specify which diesel engine? e.g. PD or CR.

If their spec. list still says PD, then they are definitely talking about the wrong car. All new vRS diesels have the 170 CR engine, which you definitely want.

bagpuss, your first para sums up my worry exactly!

lease list says cr.

now, if only someone could assist in deciding whether to get this or superb se cr170.....!

Thanks all - have now got the lease co to sort this out. They have now confirmed that dual climate control, jumbo box, rear elec windows, cruise control and 18 alloys come as standard.

On the downside, they tell me that race metallic blue is no longer a free of charge colour, and the free colours are corrida red, sprint yellow and white.

Would love the yellow, but I dont have the cahones...

on a seperate note - Im keen to know why so many recommend the maxidot - at the end of the day, isn't it just a snazzier way of displaying info the lcd already gives you - yes I know it can be used to tweak other things, but reading another thread on here where people were asked what setting they mainly left it on - the majority said fuel consumption - is that NOT on the lcd option?

The Red, Yellow and White are all solid colours.

Blue, black & silver are the metalic.

When I bought my vRS a month or so ago (I went for Black) I took a look at a white one in the showroom.

To be honest with you - they do look really good in white, so you might want to consider that, but do try and see one in the flesh.

Maxidot apparently allows you to do some extgra things that the standard LCD can't.

And also as you say it "looks" nicer - it all adds to eventual resell value of the vehicle as well I guess.

Not having Maxidot wouldn't be the end of the world - but it wouldn't be the easiest thing to add in the future if you changed your mind.

have seen white hatch, looks great.

i'm getting estate though, and my rule of thumb is to avoid white estates on three grounds

1. looks like an electricians van

2. looks like an ambulance

3. looks like the ghostbusters car...

you know what, i'm leaning toward yellow. i'm also 36, does this represent start of a midlife crisis?!

If the lease company list says CR, then I don't think you've got too much to worry about with regards to old stock. The lease company won't want to take on an older PD engined car, as the residual value on it won't be the same as on a CR.

As for vRS versus Superb, then I might be able to help you there. I'm just about to change from a vRS TDI PD to a Superb 170CR Elegance. Prior to the vRS, I had an old shape Superb Elegance.

I have to say that I was very happy with the vRS. It was quick, practical, handled well and was fairly economic (I never managed to get more than about 42mpg from it). The only downsides for me were:

1) Lack of Bi-Xenon headlights

2) Cramped in the back

3) Uncomfortable front seats (especially on a long journey)

The Superb is a more comfortable car, is built from higher quality materials and is so much more roomy. The twindoor being the final thing which persuaded me to change. Performance wise, the vRS and the Superb are quite closely matched (8.5 vs 8.8 seconds to 60). The vRS is the more agile car, but the Superb disguises it's bulk remarkably well.

If you do a lot of motorway miles, and have any children, then I would say the Superb is the one to go for.

This thread is exactly what Ive been looking for as Im in the same position! Sorry to be cheeky and you dont have to answer it but do you know roughly how much the monthly cost will be? I will hopefully find out next week but cant wait!

Hi there. I chose a VRS petrol hatchback as a company car 2 months ago. It costs me about £387 per month from the lease company for the following spec:

Colour- Race Blue

Free Upgrade Pack:

18” Alloys

Rear Electric Windows

Dual-Zone Climate Control

Jumbo Box

Optional Extras:

Rear Acoustic Parking Sensors

Electric Tilt/Slide Sunroof

Maxidot Computer

Metallic Paint

Cruise Control

The TDI is obviously a little more expensive on car cost and cheaper on personal tax but not quite as much fun I felt. It was a close decision but I had to have a petrol engine even though it costs me a bit more (just personal taste).

Make sure you shop around for the best leasing price. My company always uses a particular car leasing company but I shopped around and finally got a much lower monthly cost by leasing it through Skoda via my local dealer. There price knocked spots of everyone elses. Aparently Skoda are pushing hard to increase their share of the lease market and so prices are excellent.

As a company car your personal tax will depend on your tax bracket/earnings etc.

As I wanted a sunroof as well as climate control (look of shock on the salesmans face - no-one orders a sunroof AND climate control he says) it was a factory order. Delivery was quoted as 12 weeks and was on time.

Check out this website, it's the best one available for instant company car tax calculators, it tells you everything you need to know.

Comcar CO2 Tax Calculator

I tend to do a balanced mixture of motorway and town driving and over the last 2,200 miles have averaged 36mpg. That's sensible driving most of the time... with the occasional release of frustration as and when needed...!

Incidentally I argued for a sprint yellow but apparently it's not a colour suitable for a company car, so I went for the race blue... still a cracking colour.

Good luck and I hope this helps. Petrol or diesel VRS - hey're both a good choice of car.

lease terms depend on so many variables.

ours actually contract purchase, 4 yrs, full maint, tyres etc, and coming at 505 pm

thanks all for help. now the dilemma on colours, options or superb!

please do assist on my other post in group regarding comfort levels. bagpuss, cheers for views, but welcome more!

you know what, i'm leaning toward yellow. i'm also 36, does this represent start of a midlife crisis?!

I'm 55, so you better hope your crisis doesn't last for 20 years ;)

I bought a yellow estate (and with my own cash !). I like high visibility colours for safety reasons, and yellow is also easy to locate in a car park. I think the yellow looks really good in the estate (race blue was our second preference).

A couple of unexpected bonuses we noticed with ours:

1 Rear-ward vision is MUCH better on an estate than the hatch.

2 Yellow doesn't show the dirt from the "dirty rain" we sometimes get here (it rains so rarely here that it often brings down dust from the air when it does actually muster up enough H20 to fall).

Loving driving my Octy

Forgot to confirm that my lease arrangement is 3 years with full maintenance and tyres.
