Tried some in the 928 - Wynn's actually - about 2 months ago - no perceptible difference that I can recall - but another placebo. Actually it is going quite well at present .... hmmm

Knowledgeable folks in the Porsche world reckon ultrasonic cleaning's the only thing that gets injectors really clean.

"Motoring section in Tesco's..." thats something I would never have said a few years ago (but I also thought I'd never say "a well built Skoda" either) :D

Hmm...I don't think I could drive that fast! ;)

Rob.

Precisely - that's why they have machines to do it - with the injectors removed from the car.

Oh, how I hate inconclusiveness!;)

I was considering using an octane booster for a future trip to Italy, where apparently they don't sell 98 RON, and which according to Oettinger is a must-use with their chip. The odd tank of 95 wouldn't really hurt, but three weeks of continued use would leave their effects.

Now I still don't know whether using a booster is a good thing or not :D

You can find 98 in Italy but its "RARE as rocking horse pooh", Shell sell a fuel which is I believe over 98 & has some fancy name (Probably Optimax in Italian) We found 2 or 3 garages around Imola last year.

Suggest you contact Shell as they must be able to give you a list of garages carying the higher Octane stuff.

95 + Booster + a gentle right foot should be OK in an emergency, I did this a few times with the Scoob but always went gently on the next tank as well.

Also, If you run NF the exhaust pipe goes brown in colour but this is not indicating a problem in the engine, just a function of the chemicals burning.

Found that Shell Italia sells a petrol called V-Power, which is 99 RON (!) and is sold at a huge number of petrol stations in Northern Italy, where we were planning to go.

See for yourself: http://www.shellitalia.it/shoplocator/trovashell.asp ;)

If you are into Ferrari Goodies they have a shop at the Entrance to the Imola Circuit, Also might be worth contacting the circuit before you go to see if anything is on the track while you are in the area as it might be worth a look !! or see if you can there is any way you can get a few laps, It really is a great circuit. I only managed 4 laps before the Subaru let me down but it was "fantastic"
