Test drove a Mazda6 MPS

Featured Replies

Fancied trying one for ages, so one appeared in Norwich for £9900 for 55 plate - which seems a painful amount of depreciaton:eek:

Drove quite nicely, quick, didn't feel as large as it was, nice and quiet while not hoofing it, pretty firm ride but not too bad, lots of toys.

Got back and the salesman asked the usual questions and would I like a price for mine (52 Octavia 4x4 53k one owner from new etc), so yeah why not - £2000 he said - laughed I did. Nice car but not 7+k better, maybe 2k for being newer and quieter, certainly didn't feel much quicker which was a bit of a dissappointment, and £400 road tax:rofl:

Never mind guess I'll just keep the Octy till it falls apart

This is it with the "credit crunch". Whilst on the one hand you would think bargains are to be had as not many people are buying/swapping cars, any interest at a car dealer could be met with the idea that they will try and get every penny out of you because they are not doing much business.

But then any money should be welcome to them....I just don't know how this financial situation will affect some dealers. In the age of plenty of money about and plenty of buyers you would think competition would drive prices down, whereas now they can be picky with trade-ins they don't want.

Oh I don't know!

Was the car at Norwich Mazda?

2k for a 52 plate 4x4 is about the going rate, 52 plate vRS's are going privately for around 3K now. Factoring in the dealer margin 2k is about it I am afraid.

£2k sounds about right p/x for your car.

I did well then getting 3.5k for my 02 plate elegance, complete with numerous dings and broken headlamp washer :D

£2k sounds about right p/x for your car.

I thought they might come in at about 2k and get up to 3 - 3.5k depending how desperate they are, but I'm not that bothered because it just wasn't that much of an improvement. I reckon if I wait 2 years it'll "catch up" with mine anyway:rofl:

Local dealer had higher mileage 4x4s at up to nearly 5k recently, so best of luck to them:D:D:D

When I traded a Nissan SX200 for the Octy they started at 2k but 3 days later and a few calls it got to 4.3k:eek: so I did it.
