Themostat and temp sensor

Featured Replies

Just advice really on the 1.3 Felicia....replaced the thermostat temp sensor as the gauge not really moving from zero.

Anyway as suspected I think it now would be the themostat that's at fault. In replacing the sensor I saw that the spring inside the stat housing was just floating around, does this mean replacing the whole housing or just the stat. Also the engine on idling seems to increase and decrease in speed on it's own, is this connected to the stat failure do you think, and it's very difficult to start again after getting too hot when when idling. The fan does cut in though after a while, so all's well there.

Based on my experiences, one of the lugs on the housing has gone and you'll need a new housing. I got mine from Jorily, although there are obviously other sources. Took a few days to come (from Czech Rep.), and it's not the easiest job to cut corners on - a full drain and refill is your best bet for an easy life!

Yep got a new stat fitted and that did the trick, just partially drained down was required. Gauge working again now.
