in particular broadspeed...i want to deal with a main dealer but the closest price i can get is £250 more than broadspeed and i will have to travel halfway down the country to pick the car up. The broadpseed price includes delivery (albeit a driver who drives the car to me - not sure if i want this on a brand new car ?). what is the catch with broadspeed ? i cant find it - they simply charge a fee for finding me a dealer who will do it at a good price and then hand me over to the dealer. they are £250 cheaper even when I include their £299 fee. it all seams too good to be true ?

The only catch I can see is that you might end up using a dealer who isn't as good as you might like. Other than that, there is the issue of the dealer keeping the V5 that's been mentioned on here before.

It seems that there is some tax dodge that the dealer can do by claiming that the car is pre-registered. This will make you the second owner, and you don't get the V5 until at least 3 months after purchase. This is how some dealers manage to do such a fantastic price.

It's questionable whether this practice is even legal, but lots of people are doing it.

Bagpuss.

I don't know that broadspeed are doing that.

Just check the the car is UK sourced and you can always ask the dealer to take off the cost of delivery to you and you will collect if you want.

You could just also phone the dealer say to them that if they can get within £100 of the broadspeed price you'll buy from them, otherwise the cost of collection makes it too much and you will go to broadspeed.

I think that given the price difference is only £250 I'd go with the dealer direct and it removes all the other variables.

Get them to add somw tax or a tank of fuel and it's even closer. I wouldn't want them delivering it to me unless it was on the back of a lorry. Think of the possible accidents and added mileage. Do you think he'll drive carefully or foot to the floor?

I would definitely ask the dealer closest price wise to o.k with the deal but a tank full of fuel and you'll sign on the dotted line.

looks like this is the way i will go. got a good price from a dealer direct and got some extras added at cost (mudflaps, boot protector etc) plus some fuel.

Plus you'll be safe in the knowledge that IF you need some warranty work done or a service then you will have given your dealer some support.
