Hi from a first time Skoda owner

Featured Replies

Just bought a second hand Silver Roomster3 1.9 TDi with 7k on the clock. I have owned cars from just about every make but this is my first Skoda and so far I am very impressed indeed.

Its definately the most spacious car I can fit in my garage. I looked at the van-conversions but they are too tall to fit, not to mention ugly, noisy and slow! The Roomy is much more like a car to drive and the 1.9 is quite nippy but with the seats out it has a fantastic load bay.

I like the quirky looks, the internal bike rack, 55 MPG and the fact that so far I have not seen any others on the road. Slightly more annoying is people slowing down as they overtake on the motorway to have a good look.

The only wierd thing is the dash. Every pic I have seen shows a standard analogue fuel and temp guage, but I have neither, just an LCD fuel meter on the computer display. I can't for the life of me figure out how to tell when the engine has warmed up. And I am still trying to calculate what the graduations mean on the rev counter!!!

Still all in all I love it and I love being a bit different. Not many cars put a smile on your face these days.

Cheers

Steve

Welcome :)

Hello and welcome... :)

The Roomster3 should have a analogue fuel and temperature read out.

Does it have the front armrest, sunroof, cruise control and parking sensors?

My 2 has LED fuel and no temperature gauge, analogue or digital.

Stuart

Welcome i hope to be picking up a roomster in the not to distant future myself.

James, Mine hasn't. Thought it was only foreign spec that had these, Go and have a look in a "3" and let us know the results.

Ps, I know mine is a "3" as it has a big glass roof :D

You paid for it so i would hope you knew what it was... :D

Sorry my bad everyone.

The Fabia3 does have these dials but the Roomster3 does not, the Roomster only gets the additional dials if you have maxi-dot.

Learn something new every day.

Ahh beat me to it

Here is the dash of a Scout with MaxiDot

So a roomy that came without maxidot wouldnt have the dials if maxidot was dealer fitted at a later date... i should also ask can maxidot be dealer fitted?

I think it can be as with the roof rails it would be a biatch.

VRStu would know more about this.

Ah well i wouldnt bother anyway after getting the answer in the other thread.

Yes indeed. And a computer as well. Definately says Roomster3 on the boot as well. Bought it from Skoda so I dont think you would have lied to me ;)

Just saw your other post so thanks for checking!!

Welcome :)

Thanks. This place is great!!

I nearly bought an Octavia vRS a few years back but settled for a Golf GTI turbo (mk4). That was a decision I regretted!! Now, I believe I can fit some new ARBs and do a remap on the Roomie to get closer to vRS performance. That sounds like a real giggle!

The large prominent lines indicate the x250 and x750 marks. A triumph of design over function, if ever I saw one.

Hello and welcome to the world of SKODA, you will not be disapointed

Its the 2 marks in between I am worried about. Now whats 1/3 of 250? Er.... 83.33. Should remember that easily enough :D

Thanks. So far so good. I havn't felt this enthusiastic about a car for years (including 2 BMW company cars, a Golf GTI and an Alfa). The Roomy is ridiculously useful but doesnt seem to have any downsides (apart from the curious attention of strangers and a rather steep depreciation curve!!)

This site has already helped me out in a few ways - like now I know how to fill in the gap between the back seat and the shelf and I found out I can get tints done by the dealer after the event (though I may choose blinds).

Glad you're enjoying it!

What colour is it?

picked ours up yesterday - a polar ice blue 1.6.

it certainly draws looks although I haven't been able to work out whether they are admiring or not !

not massively keen on the instrument panel - speedo isn't especially clear and the rev counter doesn't lend itself to too much use I'm guessing

but those are the minor downsides and everything else I am delighted with except I will have to go searching for what to do about that silly gap in the rear parcel shelf/seat arrangement

I've been driving an old mercedes for the last few years which I loved but this is so open and airy (panoramic roof and ivory interior) and feels deceptively spacious. I love the driving position and the drive for engine size is faultless including a very satisfying burbling sound at low revs.

playing with the computer while driving promises hours of entertainment although hope the average mpg improves from low figures of our first 100 mile spin.

Silver. Nice safe colour :) If I had ordered from new I would have probably ordered the anthracite, but silver is fine.

How are they selling? Is this going to be a cult car once people latch on to it? Certainly deserves to be.
