Modified insurance suggestions?

Featured Replies

Just a quick post for a few names of insurance companies who specialise in Modified insurance as i know alot of you out there have some heavily modded cars.

I'm currently with Adrian Flux, but they are way off the mark this year come renewal time, so i'm looking to jump to a more competetive company this time round.

Before anyone mentions Greenlight they Don't cover any vRS models (for some reason).

Quotes are coming in now and the best so far is from Noel Dazely who have undercut AF by over £50 and are sure they can get me a cheaper quote in the next few days.

Looks like i'm jumping ship this month.

Try giving these a call, managed to get my VRS insured for £700 FC with 6 years no claims, 6 points, 23 years old and mods declared.

I Spoke with Matt Hewitt (he's my MD's brother!)

Adrian Flux were also way off the mark with me when it came for renewal.

If you do get a cheaper quote then let us know. We can go back to the insurer and see if we can get a better offer for you that can match or beat what you have had. Also have you had your discount for this forum added? If you would like me to look into this for you then please PM me your client ref.Dan.

Thanks Dan, i will bear it in mind, but is there no chance you could just save us both all this hassle and offer me the lowest price first time around? We both know i'm going to go to the cheapest insurer...

I'll PM you my details in a few days when i have all the quotes back in, but so far you need to beat £450, and your quote currently stands at £535.

When you renewal comes through we always search all our insurers for the best deal then send that renewal through to you. However if you do get cheaper insurance elsewhere we then can go to the insurers and tell them your better offer and ask them to match it or beat it. some times they will and other time's they request evidence of it being cheaper before they look into it.Dan.

another vote for brentacre from me

just under £390 up to 180 bhp all other mods included (and i have a few)and no premium for alterations throughout the year

Thanks mate, £390 is a very good price. My postcode has always been pretty good for quotes and my 6yrs NCD should provide a good discount, so with any luck mine won't be far off that.

I'll give them a call on Monday.

no problem remember to tell them your on here and were recomended

Finally got round to calling Brentacre today, and glad i did.

Managed to get the cost down to £399 so thats a good saving.

Got one last call to make, but i'll be surprised if that quote can be beaten.

Cheers for all the recommendations guys :D

My son uses Sky Insurance for his 320+bhp Nissan 200SX. He is allowed unlimited mods provided all are declared.

Sky have just called me back with a quote and have got it down to £395..... just waiting for A/F to call me back today and beat it :)

  • Author

To cut a long story short, A/F did manage to beat my quote, but then it turned out that it was a quote on a standard car (not good for installing faith), so i'll be going with Sky when i'm able to call them back tomorrow.

All credit to Dan at A/F, he did his best, but he apparently works with some right monkeys.

Cheers to everyone who offered suggestions and advice, saved me alot of cash over my renewal quote :D

I would definatley look into Brentacre for the extra 4 quid.

I spoke to them 4 times over the past few days and each time I got the same bloke who instantly had my details up with minimum fuss.

Got my docs through this morning and after a quick scan it all seems spot on and most of all they understand what your talking about when you tell them about your mods.

Cheers,

I did think about what i was getting for the extra £4 and would happily pay it, but the excess was £100 more, there was no legal cover and they never mentioned 90 day green flag cover, so SKY have pipped them to it on price and cover.

  • Author

Well i stand corrected and openly give Adrian Flux the credit they deserve.

Had a call back again today with apologies for yesterdays **** up's, and the promise of a competetive quote, so i gave them one last try and they came through with a quote for £329. The cover has everything i need but a slightly higher excess, but i'm saving more than the extra on excess so its a good deal.

Thanks again to Dan who stuck to his word in last nights PM and got the problem sorted.

:D

I'm just glad we could get it sorted for you.

Dan.

Glad you sorted it.

Man i'm so glad i'm 29 and insurance isn't really an issue anymore, it helps that ive got 9 years no claims and no points mind. I'm insured for £348 fully comp with esure.

Brentacre - great customer service - just quoted £140 better than Adrian Flux!

  • Author

Brentacre gave me a follow up call this morning to see how i got on and they were unable to beat A/F's quote, so i'm happy with my choice.

Just for comparison the lowest quote i can find for my car in standard form with 'normal' insurance co's is £288 so considering the mods its a very good price.

But like i told Sky and Brentacre, i'll be calling them back next year for the annual renewal dance.

A dance?

More like a wrestle!

Brentacre charge a fee for paper quotes which you claim back - AF want to see evidence!

No response from AF Dan - waiting for a Sky callback.

I'm normally good on this sort of thing but this year I left it too late (Last week renewal.). Still - the car's modified and I hadn't heard of either Sky or Brentacre before....

what a faff

  • Author

AF never asked for any evidence from me and Brentacre never mentioned any costs for a quote?

Dan is a helpfull bloke, send him a quick reminder and you will probably hear from someone before the end of the day.
