How easy is it to change a car bulb

"I'm going to boil my head"

Unbelievable.

What a crazy design is that!

My last car was a Renault and one of the headlight bulbs actually fell out ...

What gets me is that that is on a french car and they will throw the book at you for not having a spare.

You'd be f**ked trying to change that at the side of the road.

Plenty of cars out there where you need to take half the front off just to change a bulb, which is madness.

Interesting how someone claimed that "Top Gear" was "a proper motoring show". Either he's not watched TG in 10 years, or he doesn't know the difference between a motoring show and a chat/comedy show that features cars!

HALFORDS changed mine for a £5 megane worst car I,ve ever had and I,ve had a lot, fabia 3 1.9 td one of the better one,s, there is a thread showing simlar problem with new fabia .

I've been speaking to another Megane owner who says its not that hard to change a lightbulb on there.

Just turn the steering wheel to move the wheels out of the way.

Just watching the video again and the greenflag guy just seems to jack the var up without using axle stands which seems a little risky!!

The moral of that film is don't use Green Flag. WTF is this supposedly experienced mechanic, used to fixing cars on the side of the road blah blah blah doing studying the owners handbook, ferreting in the boot for bits and taking nearly an hour.

I worked for Renault dealers until 6 months ago.

Turn wheel on full lock, remove cover under wheel arch, insert hand, flip up clip, remove cap.

Take out bulb, replace everything.

Renault time allocation - 10 minutes.

The tricky bit is refitting the clip by feel alone.

Still a bad design though when you see how easy it is on the Golf?

Really?? You'd be fine with using, say, Britannia Recovery though?

?????

Sorry, you've lost me there.

Britannia are very good thanks, so you've lost me too unless you mean that green flag just use selected local recovery companies too

More than that; lots of times Green Flag and Britannia area franchisees are the same local company!

The point is that that film is a comment on one chimp, not on a recovery franchise!

I use the RAC personally but I change the bulbs myself.

I did have to read the manual to find out how to change my indicator bulbs.

But if something is unfamiliar then you have to read the manual unless you find someone with a similar car to yours and see if they know any tricks or workarounds.

Many moons, say about 260, ago, headlights were all pretty much the same unless you had a car with 7" rounds or pop-ups.
