the only niggle we had is that the colour range is not great. we wanted something bright and cheerful - i nice red or something- but couldnt have this !! the rosso red is just too dark and old fashioned looking. went for sating grey in the end as it does have a blue tint to it and we saw one in the felsh with cream leather and we liked it. was torn between satin grey and steeel grey but everyone else seems to be going for steel or anthracite so we fancied being different !!!

looks like we will be one of the first petrol buyers in the UK !

ordered from James at Allams.

He's very helpful isnt he, sorting me out with a Fabia Estate, decent deal too it seems, worringly though he doesnt seem to be online today, maybe i should give them a ring and see if hes in.

its his day off today ! back in tomorrow. dont bother him 1st thing though as he will be putting my order onto the system !!

Rosso Brunello started life as 'Grenade Metallic' and the dealers had swatches with that name on them. sexy eh! Somebody in marketing must have woken up and changed it.

New name sounds like 'redy brown' to me (don't know the real translation) but that reminds me of rust. I wondered about colours but the pics that sold it for me were these

Let the site properly download and doubleclick on the first thumbnail - then it autoruns. These pics have been used elsewhere.

Rosso Brunello seems to me to be a bit of a chamelion colour - it changes according to the quality and intensity of the light so the colour looks (very) different (to my eyes) in different lighting and weather conditions. With a black interior it does look very dark (especially on a dark wet day) - but with an Ivory interior - lots of dealers rave about that combination and colour contrast.

Still think it's boring? Do you not think it's a strong colour that changes the look of the car. Would be good to see it side by side with a Satin Grey.

we saw it on a grey rainy day in manchester with cream leather and we simply didnt like it. it looked very dark and we think the car looked very old and dated in that colour. i guess we all see things differntly and its simply personal preferrence. if it really looked like the bright vibrant colour shown in the marketing shots on the website then i would like it but in reality it doesnt !!

incidentally - its actually called Rosso Brunello and not brunello rosso. I believe its the name of an italian red wine !!

The skoda web colours, and indeed many photos I've seen are woefully inaccurate.

As a tip - you can see quite a range of colours if you go on Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing and do a search for Skoda Superb - one chap on their has posted quite a few, including Rosso, Mocca, Satin, Silver and one of the blue ones

that'll be the ones posted by our resident expert "bagpuss"

they are indeed very accurate and helpful - they were very useful in our colour choice

It was indeed me. The stupid thing is that most of those images came from Skoda themselves. Now, if I can get them, why couldn't Skoda UK?

I've got decent images of everything but pacific blue, which seems to have been neglected by the press folks at Skoda. Guess it can't be that interesting a colour.

If you want me to post any, I'd be happy to oblige.

P.S. Glad you've finally ordered it. I'm sure that James will look after you.

its his day off today ! back in tomorrow. dont bother him 1st thing though as he will be putting my order onto the system !!

Haha, well already left him an e-mail today and im picking mine up on saturday so lets see who wins :P:D

Why go for the 1.8 petrol that only does 38 MPG max and thats on a long run, the diesel 140 will do over 60 mpg and the power output is around the same

its not all about economy. the 140 is a bag of spanners and ruins the refinement of the car. diesel is the fuel of the devil - to quote a well known motoring presenter !!

we prefer petrol and only do 12k miles per year.

see my other posts on why diesel in not a sensible choice anymore for low mileage users (according to the AA you need to do 43k miles to equal outthe difference in purchase price and higher fuel costs). thats about 3-4 year motoring for us in which we woudl be driving an engine we hated !!

all down to personal preferrence but it would take a lot to get me into a diesel. had the 1.8T from the VAG group for 6 years and wouldnt be without it. other manufacturers' petrol engines are rubbish but this engine is a peach of an engine !

Pacific Blue for Bagpuss :D

pacific blue looks nowt like that !! cgi / artist impression of all the superb colours are rubbish!!!

I think you're thinking of Storm Blue. Pacific Blue is the non-metallic one, and I've not managed to find any promo pictures of it anywhere.

As Stu pointed out, there's the Skoda colour swatch thingy, but nothing else I can find.
