Project Car -

Featured Replies

Working on a project car for a mate. Original budget was £500 but most of that has gone getting the car back on the road. Timing belt, water pump, brakes, cooling, suspension, etc.

It's back on the road and it drives great and the bodywork is in fantastic condition.

It's an Octavia Estate SLX TDi on a W plate with 135k on the clock.

There is enough money in the kitty to get an ECU Evolution remap and I replaced the ARB bushes with Superpros (chassis and links - 3 were gone). It already had Philips Xtreme H4s and H3s.

There is £28.55 left.

Any Ideas?

Buy yourself a crate of beer and a bottle of wine to celebrate ;)

half a tank of fuel and a good B road?

Id agree with the crate of beers

tagic tree:D

What are the numberplates like? Started getting dirty and mouldy yet?

£29 would get you a pair of new plates from Halfrauds

Go faster stripes or some LED washer jets haha - Joke

Panel Filter?

Full Valet abd buy some wax etc....

aero wipers all round and change for a slab from A5DA :D

All really great answers.

New wheel trims if the old ones are a bit scabby and kerbed.

yeah as said, new numberplates make a huge difference. aero wiper blades and a new aerial will also smarten her up

Thanks for all the great ideas. We especially like the crate of beer idea and we'll be doing that anyway.

In the end we went for a RightClick Remote Entry system and a rear Aero Wiper (we found another £6 in the driver's seat rails).

As I said the car became a project for a mate. This guy has the worst luck possible so we thought we would 'stretch' his £500 as far as possible. He thinks it is just repair work for his upcoming MOT, but we've done everything mechanical and it will be remapped. Some of his other mates have valeted, clayed and waxed it. Another has sorted out the insurance for the remap. Can't wait to see his face.

Some pics of the finished product would go down well.

Are you doing the ECU Evolution remap via the postal service? hoping to get mine done soon.

Yes

Aero Wipers as someone else said. I really like them for some reason!

How did you find the RightClick remote CL? They're not expensive - are they any good? Easy to install? Work well?

They work great, however, you do need to insert a 270R resistor in the door unlock circuit. This is not in the instructions but is simple to do.

2 wires for power/earth.

2 wires to back of hazard flasher.

2 wires to convenience controller.

Took me about 5 minutes to take the dash panels off.

20 minutes to install

5 minutes to put the panels back.

If you get one and have any problems feel free to PM me.
