i think last pic here is after a bit of ground nut oil treatment while still warm!, cant really see difference in rubbish camera phone pics but to eye its def a bit more solid black.

I did this to mine recently. Works amazing :)

Lasts for about 6 months too.

Yep, does work, but please be careful people!!! :P

Looks good, how much are you heating it. I take it you aren't melting the dimple effect off?

how do you protect the paint around it? or just not get too close lol

nope didnt melt the dimples off, only went really gently

I just didnt get too close! had heat gun on really low at first warmign the whole area, then put it up one notch to work the trim.

It never got too hot on the paint around as I didnt full blast it, and came away when got near the edges.

Impressive results.

I'll stick to my shoe polish though. This is easier to get off paintwork then heat damage

I was nervous about this, but i don't think the paint ever got overly hot, especially when you consider how hot black paint gets in the sun? heat round exhausts? heat coming up from bonnet?

i took it gently to start, warmed the whole area then cranked it up a bit on the plastic.

as someone said you coould always pop them out if worried.

i had this with my previouse bmw, i got completly sick of treating the blacks every time i went to wash it, so i removed all the bumper/door trims and just gave them one light coat of satin black paint, no prep work other than washing it, one nice easy coat and it was still jet black about a year later when i sold the car,

i swear buy it, although i dont know how easy the bumper strips are removed (if possible) on the skoda.

worth a thought though as you don't have to avoid them when polishing/waxing then either!

Nice job, I like it. Might have to try it on mine. Any products I use seem to only last about a week, if that.
