Hmmm, Octavia snag, :(

Featured Replies

Having just recently (today) bought a vRS, i was a happy bunny, that was until about 50 miles on the way home, the car starts misbehaving. It almost felt like it was misfiring away, juddering and then a loss of power.

The Testing Engine Electronics light came on and flashes away, and obviously thought, hmmmm, this aint right.

Limped into the services, and the car struggles with revving past 1000, seems to stutter away till 2000 and then revs fine. Fine, but without the Turbo, its like its just not there at all, where on earth did it go? who knows.

That aside, when we pulled up, the Testing Engine light goes out, seems that below 5 - 10 miles per hour the light goes out, go above that and it comes back on.

Scary thing is my Micra can out accelerate me right now, so any advice welcome?. I dont have any diagnostic equipment so cant check any fault codes, so itll be down to Skoda as soon as...

Could it be the Coil Packs? would that equate to the problems I have, i.e my missing Turbo? or am I looking specifically at possible split hoses...

Shame, as I do really like the car.....

Coil packs I reckon.

Needs scanning though

Its possibly gone into limp mode due to failed coil pack/s.

93.32343% it will be coil packs, don't cost a fortune and there is a nice guide floating around which shows you how to replace, not hard.

COIL PACK for sure i would bet my left gonad on it !!!!!!lol

Better hope it has not been driven too far with dodgy coil packs, as the unburnt fuel is no good for the cat, which then can cause additional issues.

A split breather hose can also cause some issues and is hidden under the engine cover, so worth checking that out too.

Did you buy the car privately or from a dealer?

Coil Pack, had the same thing happen to mine. It's a known problem, don't worry about it, just get it replaced a.s.a.p and don't drive it far like it!

Once done it'll be wonderful again

Well I disconnected the Coil pack wiring just for a look see and establish what whas there, curious in nature, reconnected the lead, and the car is fine, drove round the block, turbo there, all the power, not limping, could it have been just a sporadic fault which has either cleared itself overnight, no warning light are on anymore or could it be a simple case of disconnecting the Coil packs and reconnecting have sorted the issue...

Coil packs are intermittant in the early stages.

I have the same problem with my 1.9tdi 130 Octavia, occasionally the engine will shudder when accelerating, giving power loss then the engine drives like there is no turbo, but by turning the ignition off, then on everything goes back to normal? has anyone got any ideas?

Could be sticky VNT turbo vanes? Search the forum for Mr Muscle(!) to get more info

Sorry mate but the party's finished on this thread ...4.5 yrs ago, and besides your talking about a diesel, this thread is about a petrol.

See above for a tip for yours
