Custom remap... what can i expect?

Featured Replies

Getting a few performance and suspension mods carried out at Awesome gti tomorrow and friday including a custom remap.

keeping std intercooler / clutch.

piperX panel filter

160 intake

full turbo back + decat - Miltek

And obviously the remap.

Just wondered what bhp/torque i can expect?

thanks

Smithy

I'm running similar mods to that & have a custom map from Awesome. Currently running 170bhp/330ft-lbs. Had it running 180 at one point but it was decided to be a bit too smokey.

Since gone for a clutch+SMF because the stock DMF had a nasty vibration when accelerating through peak torque.

thx for reply.

Don't really want to go for the uprated clutch / flywheel so will ask for the torque to be kept a bit lower than yours then.

cheers

Standard clutch is rated at 300ft/lb I was told by Jabba hence my custom map kept it at 296 so it wouldn't lunch mine.

Yep, as above, without uprating the clutch, 300lbs/ft is the max.

Custom mapping with an uprated clutch should easily see 180+bhp and 330+lbs/ft

In my opinion, custom mapping is a waste of time without uprating the clutch on the PD diesels

im booked in for next wednesday at jabba for a reap and clutch. i know the clutch is expensive but i think it needs to be done to get the full benafits of the remap.

A custom map is not a waste of time on standard bits if you specifically want a truly sensible one, like I did. Wanted something that would not trash the turbo, clutch or flywheel and that was truly progressive in its power delivery and that's what I got.

Only 160bhp and 296ft/lb but it's still way better than standard- less smokey, better on fuel, nicer to drive and of course a fair old bit quicker.

Was told by Jabba that these stats are within the tolerances of the standard bits and they didn't have to up the boost by much to get it which is better for my turbo.

Plus the missus is getting the car once it's paid off so a more sensible map is more suitable.

How much is it to get a decent clutch/dmf upgrade?

A correctly mapped stage 1 should ensure no smoke and stay within the tolerances of the clutch. No need for customers to pay extra for custom mapping

If you wana uprate the fly you want to go down the single mass route.

My helix and SMF was £830 but its the shizzle :thumbup:

What map have you got with that?

And does you gear box whine now? I've been told that it does?

No no gearbox whine... changes are amazing and the feel is unbelievable

So much better than just a clutch upgrade, only side effects are chatter at idle but how often are you idle lol

What map have you got with that?

Just a Star generic map, made 173bhp on the rollers, quite high torque though 347lb/ft

Beast!

I have to idle a fair bit in the traffic. So it would bug me.
