First of all Hello, been a long time member on hear but haven’t posted, mainly due to the fact i didn’t own a skoda until yesterday. I got myself a 55 plate VRS with 50K on the clock, FSSH etc etc

Came across the car purely by mistake as i was after an anniversary golf tdi but after leaving a deposit on one the guy dropped out. So went out looking for something Golf/Civic like and bumped into the VRS and could resist excellent value for money and solid build.

Having been driving today and putting about 100 miles on it I must say I really like it. Its not anywhere near as quick as my old car but a lot more refined and a more laid back drive. Plus I can get people in the back and there’s a boot, massive win J and if that wasn’t enough it just and i mean just fits in my garage too.

Previous car was a Seat Ibiza MK3 Cupra Stage 2 Seat Ibiza Cupra K03s - SEAT Cupra.net - SEAT Forum

Whats everyone drive? What car did you have before?

an older octy vrs about 30 miles from keyffli!

my current car is the vrs 04 plate. And my previous car was an 52 plate octy vrs. Great cars.

Get a remap and bring it upto scratch ;)

Am tempted really been, had my Cupra on a K03s at 250BHP and that was quick. Saying that one of the reasons for a change was to get something i would mess about with that much lol

Would a remap with DV and Panel Filter make 210ish. Also is there going to be any issues with clutch slippage? I know if i start there before long it'll have a full turbo back and TIP lol

A 53 reg Octavia TDi Elegance. Previous car was a Vauxhall Astra 17DTL Merit estate.......

A DV will not get you more power, you'll just hear it more. A panel foam filter may get 1 or 2 bhp. A remap should get you at least 210bhp.

I've just had mine done and the cars more responsive and quicker.

Hello and welcome.

I got 2 MK2 Golfs, a 16v and a 20vt

i wouldn't worry about the clutch from just a remap tbh i think most people on here who've had remaps on the VRS have been fine only a few people with the 4wd 1.8t have had issues. 210bhp from a simple remap is a good amount.

if ur gettin a different airbox/CAI then the standard dv is plenty loud enough. but puttin a recirculated one on quietens the dump when lettin off throttle.

i know adding a dv wont increase the power lol, just know that standard ones usually arent all that great :)

Good good a trip to JBS might be on the cards soon then lol

Used to have a Jetex Cone, Forge TIP & Forge DV007 on my Cupra and that used to give a nice dump, but aiming to keep the VRS close enough to standard as poss so probably just get a panel filter and remap and leave it at that :D

id have a read up on this thread 1st before going for a jbs map.

and imo unless you want noise id stick with the standard DV as it seems a bit of a mystery on how to setup the 007.

Whats the mystery with the set up of the 007? It is a straight swap  or are you thinking of the forge split R

Hi,

Now driving an Octavia vrs, previous car Rover 220Gti

I can hear my standard dump valve now after my remap. It is a new one though.

Dirty Hari - no offence regarding the DV not giving any power gains, I guessed you knew that, having had modded cars in the past. It was the benefit of the unwise!

good shout i might be getting confused there! The standard dv is fairly loud with a panel filter imo but you may want more.

none taken :)

If you go for a remap I'd strongly suggest you go for someone who's local, and preferably someone who'll check it on a rolling road at the time. I went on a rolling road day with the intention of getting it mapped, only to find my car had already been mapped (which was news to me!) but was making less power than stock! Still haven't got to the bottom of the problems but I'm now up at 206bhp and 230lb-ft so can't complain. There should be more top end to come if I can find out what the problem is...

Std dump valve is much more noticable with my K&N panel filter.

What's peoples thoughts on replacing the standard DV after a remap? Mines is new and I'm in two-minds on whether I should replace it for a Forge item. Not fussed about noise.

leave it until it breaks and even then id replace with standard DV. is my opinion but aftermarket DV's will last longer.

Functionally I'd say there's no difference between std and aftermarket DV - how can one DV release pressure *better* than another?! The latter will probably last longer though, and Forge does seem to be the make to have.

I've remapped and can't be bothered to change the DV - it won't make any performance difference so I don't see the point personally.

Welcome to the fold :) - previous car was a Lancer Evo 4 GSR

If your thinking about a remap, go get a 6 hour trial from APR. Clutch will be fine, if you don't drive like a mentalist!

My last cars were a Suzuki Samurai LWB, Volvo 480ES, Suzuki SJ413JX, and a Renault 21 Sevanna 2.0i....... (feel free to take the pish)

Now you can all see why I love my Skoda so much!
