Knocking noise...

Featured Replies

...from behind the glovebox, whats annoying I can go round cornes & bums all is Ok, then all of a sudden, knock will appear, its also worse when its warm, its almost like something is sliding around & then knocks against something, yes the glovebox is empty as is top of dash storage.

Anyone else had this sort of problem.

Have you checked under the seats, it could be something you have dropped on the floor and its rolled under one of them

Under seats are clear, as is storage box.

I had an issue with mine there, it sounded like it was coming from the glovebox area.

What I found was,

1) Pop off the cover at the side of the dash and see if all the clips are attached, one of mine came off and was caught under the air vent.

2) When sitting in the Passangers footwell, the panel beside your right leg is attached by a screw. This attached to a metal bracket. On this bracket there was a piece of rubber/plastic that stops things rubbing off it, my had come loose at was moving about. PM me if it doesn't make sense, I have a picture on my camera but don't have my lead with me.

Yes, and the fuse cover seems firm when hand knocked.

Update, the car has been in 2 x 2 days & problem still there, good news might be on the horizon though, dealer spoke with Skoda Uk who suspect its a door/door hinge problem, they have lubricated hinges & problem 50% better, lets hope it gets sorted on its 3rd visit, if it does not, Skoda UK will view the car.

OK, car been with dealer another 2 days( 6 days in total) & problem still there and no improvement since last visit, even though door check strap replaced, as recommended by Skoda technical, dealer has even said they do not know how to fix problem, have requested Skoda technical inspect car, Skoda UK have spoken to dealer to confirm problem, but get this, the dealer has said they cannot replicate problem, I argued the point & said why replace a part if there no problem, Skoda UK said dealer trying to replicate problem, I advised you dont change parts to replicate a problem if it not there, how would dealer know what to listen for, I also argued why would they have the car for 6 days if no problem.

Car should have gone back today for them to listen to problem, but my son ill so kept away, yet another visit to yet another **** Skoda dealer.

Also every repair on this car with the exception of the windscreen has taken a min of 2 attempts to fix.

I have also contacted whatcar's helpdesk.

I'm quite happy 'cos a friend of mine discovered the buzzling noise source while I was driving. It is the plastic folder holding tax paper, "almost" sticked to windscreen and currently here (no, we have not those nice round tax disc holders).

I'm getting rid of it, and will probably use the plastic clip to hold the tax paper on.

Ciao
