TB clean and new N75 valve

Featured Replies

OK. As an update to an earlier post about my MAF:

http://briskoda.net/octavia-i/disconnected-maf-problems-octy-1-8t-53-a/124703/

I cleaned the TB and fitted the new N75 valve yesterday. It was all pretty easy except for those stupid one-use clips on the N75. What a PITA to get them off . Anyway, ran the car to work this morning and it's difficult to tell if it's made any difference because the traffic was heavy so I couldn't test it properly.

The revs are still ticking up and down ever so slightly around 800 rpm. Is this normal to have a bit of flicker? It's more of a throb in a regular beat so better than it was.

The turbo seemed to be behaving but I'm still sure the car has felt better (smoother/faster). Does the ECU need time to recognise the new N75 signals or am I talking nonsense? Might have to start doing all the pipes next but I can't see any splits or bad connections, or hear any hissing.

This is all connected to the dreaded 17705 code.

Any more thoughts welcome

Did you re-align the TB after cleaning it? I think you need VAG-Com to do it.

I didn't think I needed to because I didn't disconnect any of the plugs?

If you didn't unplug the sensor then no it's not necessarily needed to do a reset, but as you've cleaned the TB it's probably worth doing anyway (another thing to tick off your list) :)

If the TB wasn't unplugged it doesn't need resetting, believe me I've done quite a few this way and never needed resetting.

did you replace the TB gasket or reuse it?

Sorry what I meant was I know you don't 'have' to do it - but it could do no harm having it done anyway? Especially if it's never been done.

Yeah I never reset mine, I just sprayed the nuts off it with carb cleaner!

Thanks all.

I replaced the gasket with a lovely new green paper one from the stealers. The revs are still a bit lumpy at idle as mentioned above, and I don't have VAGCOM so can't reset the throttle, unless that door-open, bonnet-up thing works but I suspect it's a crock.

Does anyone know if the ECU needs time to adjust to the new N75 or should it behave straight away? Cheers

Hi Mate

Remove fuse 10 and leave out for 5 mins or so then replace it.

This will perform a ECU reset and also a TB reset at the same time.:)
