Sevice And Small Problem

Featured Replies

Took the car to the dealers for a service today, it cost me £180 for a service which included getting new front wiper blades and new rear light bulbs because the " orange " was fading on them. Now for the small problem , I turned in the lights on because it was getting dark and a warning bleep came on the dash board. It was the warning light for the rear lights but since I had to get home quickly I did not bother returning to the garage. Took out the rear cluster to check the bulb and it looked ok so will be taking half day holiday to get it fixed tomorrow:rolleyes:.

I have a water leak and the dealer checked the door seals and it was found the leak was coming through the door card so the dealer called Skoda ( I have one month warranty left on a 12 month used warranty on a 05 Reg) and they said Skoda will pay 80% of the cost leaving me to pay £40.

There isnt a warning light for the rear lights, its al the lights so i would check all the light to see if a bulb has blown.

The rear left light bulb is not working

If you have warranty left, why do you have to cough up?

Water leaks arent usually covered on used car warranty, so I would think he has a goodwill contribution.

Ohhh right thanks for that lummox!:)

Correct Lummox, I thought I was expecting it to cost me more so £40 for the two doors is not bad.

Can't moan at that. :)

Dads Xsara needed new orange bulbs for the MOT, so you're not the only one mate. :)

Just noticed the brake light on the same cluster is not working. So I am driving around illegally because the dealer has cocked it up, will have to carry the job sheet with me in case I get stopped by the police so I can show then the rear light cluster was worked on.

Takes about 30 secs to change a rear bulb so what's the problem?

Fixed the problem, dealer said the two bulbs and blown.

I replaced both orange bulbs in the rear clusters of my wife's Polo 9N just before its MOT a few weeks ago (to avoid a possible repeat of paying to get both bulbs fitted at MOT - my fault!), after doing this work "carefully" I though, I noticed that one of the small 5 watt rear lamps was not working - I removed that cluster again and replaced the small 5 watt rear lamp - only to find that the large stop/rear lamp's glass envelope had broken free from the metal end. Might be what happened to your car - ie rough handling of the cluster when either trying to remove it or refitting it. Quite easy to do if you get rough with them - I must have been!

I checked the rear light bulb when I got home and and a quick look at the others so you might be right.
