Clutch Judder Dealer may not do under warranty

Featured Replies

My Car is a 2006 '56 plate' 1.9TDI Fabia Elegance with 15,152 Miles,and that i've had from new.:D

Took my car in for it's second service today, and i mentioned to the dealer that the car has a nasty judder when you pull away, especially from cold in the morning, or when you make it do some work (like pulling from stand still on a hill etc.

It has done this from when it had 5K on the clock, but i thought it would sought itself out (all part of it running in), it shudders & judders until the pedal is fully up, although it has not got any worse over time.

Anyway, when i picked the car up, they said that the car does judder, and that it will need a new clutch & thrust bearing, and possibly a new flywheel. BUT

Told me this is a wear and tear item, and possibly not under warranty. They will need the car for a few days to remove the transmisson and the clutch to identify if it is a warped or distorted Clutch which would be (wear & tear and down to me!!) or if it is a manufacture fault (they will do it under warranty!!).

If it is under warranty of course it will be free of charge, but if it's so called wear & tear it will cost me £450 + VAT to retify the problem

Now the car has only 15K on the clock, it is only driven by me, it is cared for and nertured like a baby :o

As far as im concerned it is a fault with the car under warranty.

Yet again they will have to strip the car down to find the fault, and if it is wear & tear i will have to pay for the labour myself (quoted £85 an hour!) to strip and rebuild, just to find the fault :(

It's a no win situation for me, i will be charged to find a fault which could be a warranty claim, but it's possible it could be free if it's a build fault!

What do you reckon i should do?

Put up & shut up or have a moan and kick ***

Moan and kick up stink mate, I had clutch and flywheel changed on a 2 year old motor with 40+K on the clock, they have to tighten their belts I understand but if you are genuine then I see no reason for them to knowck you bak, especially after they have noticed it.

Two other options, Try a different dealer or Give SUK Customer services a call.
