COD5 beta for PC

Featured Replies

Well, it's a big :thumbdwn: for me at the moment - it just bombs out when starting to load stating d3dx9_47.dl was not found.

Reading the readme, it says

-=DIRECTX=-

Call of Duty: World at War MultiPlayer Beta (hereafter COD:WaW MPB) requires that your computer have the latest version of DirectX 9.0c installed in order to run. This is available online at:

Microsoft Corporation

In order for the MPB to run' date=' Windows Vista users will need to install the update for DirectX 9.0c. This is necessary even if DirectX 10 is installed. [/quote']

Further down it says

---------------

DIRECTX CRASH AT LAUNCH

If you encounter the following error: "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_34.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem." Try installing the latest version of DirectX 9.0c (found on Microsoft Corporation)

Hmm. I fancy my chances installing DX9.0c on top of Vista which comes with DX10. Nice of the readme file to say where to get it. Try finding a link to DX9.0c download

 seems to be working, but

"Downloading DirectX SDK Update (June 2005)"

Nice to see Vista 64 is up to date :P

OK, finally installed and up and running. :)

But I can't seem to find my around the filtering... PM on its way :o

It's gone for a 5hit on mine vista box.

Won't start up .......ran the sdk directx update ....still no joy.

I'll have too boot into XP and try that

i am up to the dizzy heights of rank 20 :)

bring on the full version. although it still feels like a mod for cod4 rather than the next big thing.

Ahhh this brings back memories... it plays almost exactly like COD4 but with different weapons and maps.. can see myself loosing quite a bit of time to this :D

This licks balls big time

It crashes in vista on startup and I'm getting the same message as Xav in XP.

My memory is on the blink and due for a swap via crucial so'll wait and if that makes any difference :grumpy:

I resorted to the DX9 installer which did fix the problem. Took a good 10-15 minutes to install though which I thought was amusing :P

Graphically, I felt quite unimpressed. Of course, it's the gameplay that makes or brakes a multiplayer experience, but nonetheless, it all seemed very dated.

I guess that's what an old version of DX gives you

As has been stated before, its on the same engine as COD4 - not the best graphically but scales to low end hardware very well :)

But COD4 felt just like COD/COD2  still nice to see they're consistent. :)

Sorry to blaspheme in this thread but it is now available for the Eggbox on downloadable demo.

:sofahide:

the full PC release is on the scene, I dont condone that sort of thing but I will be buying the full game for the online capabilities so might as well hone my l337 skillz on the singleplayer :P

Yes I had noticed ;)

Still can't get the fecking demo working though :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well thats the single player done and dusted, it was a bit short :) I think I prefer COD4. I feel a bit like I just played COD2 with jazzy graphics and no Brits. looks like the Americans and Russians did it on their own again :(

Tank control is worse imho than COD2, Flamethrower is fun, kentucky fried nips :)

Multiplayer is ok, it's fun shooting dogs the little feckers but there are some glitches. I got the Arty strike tonight, then the dog's, it would not let me make my arty strike but released the dogs ........ 5 times LOL. There were juvenile shouts of hacker, cheat etc ....... but it's not my fault the thing decided I could have 5 packs of ravenous labrasationweillers, it was feckin hilarious though, like a plague of rats rampaging around :D
