Keswick In The News . . .

Featured Replies

Just watched it on the news, seems it is a pre-req they are all well prepared for cold/overnight stays so fingers crossed all are well.

We stayed in Ambleside this week. Thursday was horrendous!!

It lashed down from early morning & never stopped until late night.

We were going to make a trip to Keswick that day but had to turn back as we feared we would get stranded (we have 5 month old baby too!!).

The road along Thirlmere was completely flooded & most of the rivers had burst their banks.

Luckily we came home today.

Reminds me a little of when I did Ten Tors back in '97. Was cancelled due to snow, ice & 80mph gales.... In the middle of May! Was not a fun weekend at all!

I am amazed that the event wasn't cancelled really, surely they looked at the forcast.

But yes I hope everyone is well.

check this out.... (this is Thursday night) where the tranny is, is just down from the borrowdale hotel, the van is IN the road, surrounded by fields either side...... just looks like a new lake to me ;) nownt new round here

i was at a sale that day and jeeze..... iv never been as wet of cold in my whole life.....

The weather has been really horrid and we've not escaped it here in Musselburgh howlong gales, frighting driving along our local bypass yesterday.

Hope all the runners are ok in the lakes but as Ian has pointed out shoudl this not have been just cancelled.

we saw this on the news last night and started to see some of the places we went past whilst on the lakes camp earlier this year. scarey really how some of the places could end up under so much water.

Heard this on the news early today, most folks will of been well prepared and experienced mountain runners so hopefully will find there way off / out without problems. Having said that MR teams have been out over night and appear to have rescued a few casualties :(

Sharky, yes that does look rather wet, and I'm surprised the event wasn't cancelled if it was that wet on Thurs.

There was a school party up at Honistor Pass with a bus full of school kids from Saltburn when the river broke its banks

Glad all were ok.

mountain rescue have been busy, but I don't think anyone has died this time... all good news!

All good news but police and mountain rescue are going to be asking a lot of questions.
