Recent M3 semi detail

Hi all

First proper post, so be gentle with me...

Hoping it all works out - apologies / blame to Simon (Baker21) who's got a bit to answer for! My G220 should be with me in a week or two, so there'll be no stopping me then. This is a friend's M3 which had been down to Edinburgh and had a fine selection of bugs and grime smeared all over it.

On to the before shots then....

So a bit grimy and covered in bugs, tar and lots of other nice stuff.

Started off with a couple of runs of Bilt Hamber Autofoam, although it's been slightly too runny for my liking of late. although the nice guys at Polished Bliss have sorted a new lance for me, which I'll be using from now on...

Then I opted for a 3BM wash (as I don't yet have my big buckets with the grit guards) using a MF mitt with Meguiars NXT shampoo. Dried using a Eurow Waffleweave and Megs detailer. I'd done the shuts and engine etc with my brush and APC by then too. Left me with this...

Tried AS Tardis for the first time - was very impressed indeed...

Then clayed using BH Autoclay Soft, just to smooth up and lift the odd stubborn bug residue etc.

Exhausts cleaned with a drop of Peek and some wire wool.

Interior just needed some MF mitt coupled with a random interior cleaner from AG which was needing finished. Seats were done with AG leather cleaner using a MF applicator then conditioned overnight with AG leather conditioner, both of which I nicked from my brother's garage. Took quite a while to hoover to a decent standard, as he's a golfer like me - plenty of stray grass in the boot I'm afraid!

Finished off with a couple of coats of Collinite 476, topped off with some Poorboys Natty's Blue. I made a point of just cleaning the wheels with the shampoo and some non acidic cleaner, topped off with some tyre dressing, as they're due for refurb shortly. They're in a fairly shabby way meantime, but he's getting this sorted when he has it off to Edinburgh shortly for a big service  wait until THAT bill hits his carpet!

Bit of a learning curve for me just now, but have come on leaps and bounds so far - got another M3 to do for a full winter going over in a couple of weeks, so will pull out the stops for that hopefully.

As always, comments and constructive points are most welcome.

Let's have some afters then...

Good god Si - that took me ages! I hope I get better at this posting lark - I could've done another wax in less time....

Good work mate and it looks like you have a nice set up there.............

Not only is the detailing hard graft but it can be time consuming doing the write-ups.............:(

Nice view you have there too!

lol

Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but it's right up the owner's street. He's got the TV etc in there too. Nice interior quality, although the pics don't show what a good cleaning and conditioning the seats got. He's thinking of a change next year I think....

Very nice job  Just 1 observation, cover the number plates up for the pickies, stops internet scammers and identity thieves ( excuse spelling)
