New MOT machine.

Featured Replies

A friend had his car mot'd in the last week, the garage had a gig arrangement that shook the car, like a four post lift but shook the car, i know they rock the wheels to check suspension, but this machine shakes the car very hard to the extent my friend was worried it would fall off the gig.

Not sure if anyone else has experienced similar?

Thought it sounded a bit dodgy to me.

or is there a new machine they use.

Skoda have used a similar thing to test their cars for many years it seems.

Its the new ATL....automated test lane, checks suspension and steering. Does the movement for you so the one man tester can see any play etc

Phil

Indeed - ATL's have been out for a few years. The 'shaker plates' give the suspension a good work out and the operator usually has a remote control and a lamp so all joints can be checked.
