Come on Des. Stop being all mysterious, you've probably forgotten more mods than most of us have got. And you're not on here enough anymore.

What I would say is if you need proof take your car to a tuner that hasen't got anything to prove, stick it on the rollers and see what happens. If you make 215bhp (give or take) its a bloody good map.

Anyway what ever happened to "it's not about the figures, it's the way it drives".

what tuner has nothing to prove?? and more importantly what ones do?

Exactly!

Speak your mind Des, there's been alot of it going around recently and it's all good.

However, that's not going to stop me posting my dynos if I can get this damn gallery thing to work. I've got wiggly lines in different colours to share with everyone.

Rich did u get ur car remapped? where did u go? and what figures?

The ones that have not tuned your car, the ones that have.

so basically any octy with a remap giving more than 215bhp isnt right?

Thats what it's all about m8. ;)

Use the butt dyno, it's much more accurate. :D

Ish!!......225-230bhp nah

Des,

To clarify. My 'Exactly...' post was in response to you not Kenny. I should have used quotes.

Kenny, try and stay calm, the man has knowledge :D Keep chanting 'We're all one big happy family', it works for me.

Re: Butt dyno. Best way. My butt tells me that if I'm not careful I'll loose my license and/or die trying.

I'm very happy with my Revo but at this rate all we'll get is XP Printer Test Pages  Damn you technology.

I personally take all dynos with a large pinch of salt. I like the curves and if you get big numbers then fair enough it makes your day but...

I'm not agreeing with all you say Des (mainly due to a complete lack of real knowledge of tuning) but the discussion is good.

Ish!!......225-230bhp nah
Should we also take the 'before' dyno figures with a pinch of salt, Des, even when they are line with the manufacturer's spec?

Oh and for some of our newer members. This is Des we're talking about. Give him half a chance and he'll wind you up no end :D

Rich, is this one and the same man who used to own a Jabba'd black vRS allegedly producing 249.1bhp and 264lb/ft?

It could be. The chubby cheeked baby face and tiny ickle hands look familiar.

Don't be a stranger Des.

Never tried salt with a dyno reading.

How can I explain this. You don't just put a car onto the rollers and hey presto you get a read out, you have to set it up. Herein lies your answer, that's all i'm saying.

I give in. I tried. You saw me try?

Isn't that what Jabba do with a remap, Des? Have you heard of dragging blood out of a stone? Does a rhetorical question need a reply?

Who's chip did it have, what fuel was it running, did it have any other mods, did the intercooler/inlet manifold have a load of water sprayed on it etc, etc.

OK, Des, now answer your own questions...

I didn't realize you could get blood out of a stone. Some people are so gullible, don't you think.

sorry, i am calm honest rich:D only lost it once on here over golf remember ;) im happy to be informed.

and as you say rich Dyno's in my opinion vary too much aswell

OK, Des, now answer your own questions...

Set up Denis, set up. Thats what it's all about.

BTW read post 22 carefully. ;)

Before and after dyno plots are useful for us numpties to see what we are getting for the hard-earned cash which inevitably changes hands when anything happens under the bonnet. But with so many variables involved - including OAT and atmospheric pressure which are in the hands of a superior being - I would not expect to get the same readings on the same dyno on a different day. But in the end it is all very academic, isn't it.
