I think iv finaly found the fabia's replacement

Featured Replies

After months of not knowing what i wanted to replace the fabia with.....:o wanting a nice diesel car but something you dont see every day on the roads...going from coupe bmw's to an ibiza cupra and everything else inbetween,

I have finaly decided i want an astra....

888  they come with a 1.9 150 cdti engine which is remaped by 888 to 198bhp or around there....335mm four pot brakes....lowerd suspension...18 inch 888 wheels tinted rear windows.

Slight hitch is theres a limited number or 100 in the country and i only want a white one....here are some pictures of the demo one they used, it's not for sale though

Very nice mate, looks cracking in white.

I like them loads ! :D

Not cheap though !

Good choice. :)

aye, looked at these before and they are really well liked!! bit of a shame about the limited number tho.. and havent they got a sport button which tweaks them up to 220bhp?? or was that a gimic??

Yeah, you can expect to pay up to 14k for one so there not cheap but when you look at the old style ones still fetching 6-7k i think they should hold there money quite well after the first buyer has lost 4-5k on it

yeah they have a sport button, theres three settings on it i believe 150 stock, 170 and the 200 bhp map...some have been known to open up to more than 200 though so they cant be that bad

Nice choice - I like them as well, despite not being a Vauxhall fan at all.

Should be a good 2nd hand purchase, if you can find one of course :)

Vauxhall Astras for Sale

There's 2 on Pistonheads...13 & 14k.

If i had the cash..... :D

Although very disapointed in the interiors, thought they would at least have some nice seats in there.

Very Nice:thumbup: a tad over priced if im honest:O

My mates got a normal sri 150 cdti with a tunning box on it and boy does it fly, i have to hammer my megane to get past him, i was abit surprised when he first but the box on. It ran 205bhp & 340 ft ibs torque on Awesome's RR.

Only downside it smokes like a chimney:rolleyes:

Prob tuned and tweaked by 888 racing the people behind the Vauxhall Touring Car racing team.

Thats why it's called the 888 :P

Read that whilst they go like stink, the have the vXR trait fo keeping traction on the road, & you get petrol type MPG from it.

Good luck & if you get one post your impressions.

yeah but there silver lol

aparently some come with diferent seats and some dont.....i do agree though they should have made alot more of the interior but i could always whack some corsa vxr seats in or something similar

See, thats what i'd hate.

Spend 14k on a car, and then have to splash out for some decent seats.

Tis going down my scale...

I had an astra sport hatch, only the 1.6 sxi and I intended to trade it in for the SRI 150cdti this year. I got my fabia instead and glad I did.

The chassis on the astra's are crud, body roll is mental and they understeer like a cat on ice being chased by a dog with a rocket up its ****. I expect 888 will have ironed out these imperfections somewhat for this car and would love to test one. Must admit though no better looking hatches on the road than these babies.

Still glad I went furby though!

Not my cup of tea at all, but think they are good cars really. :)

Just get a regular 150 cdti and get it mapped yourself, a colleague has a vectra 1.9cdti 150 mapped by Celtic, running 208bhp now :D

Not my cup of tea tbh, but different strokes and all that jazz

I really like the look of the 3dr Astras but the interior lets it down alot. :thmbdwn:

Had a run up to Whitby on Sunday with acouple of very nice VXR's.:D

Drove one of these myself up at Thurlby. It was black with black wheels, so an instant hit with me!!

I thought the interior was good, the blue and black bucket seats this one was fitted with were comfy, though coulda been more supportive.

What blew me away though was the furiousness of the power delivery. It was really really QUICK!

It made my 180bhp Fabia feel like an SDi when I had to drive it home after driving that Astra. They wanted £17,000 for this one when I looked at it. They had a lower mileage VXR sat next to it for only £16,000... but wouldn't even consider budging on the price of the 888.

Sounds nice, but not all of them feature those bucket seats, it has to be said. Which is a real shame IMO.

Steve

I've followed one of these, quite fast... its the same engine as mine,(so maybe you can keep up with me now ) but with a 16V head, BIG turbo and map  seen this engine an a bravo mapped to over 200bhp.... no other mods needed to get that power.... standard 200bhp on the astra of course....

I rememeber 5th gear testing it against the astra VXR, it just lost out on the 0-60, but won on the mid range

Nice but wouldnt spend 14k on a Vauxhall.
