Boost Gauge & Short shift fitted.

Featured Replies

OK had a few days of this week to fit my boost gauge and Audi TT short shifter.

The company I used to do air vent mode was superb, I sent a spare vent from a scrappy and they modded it and sent it back. I then purchased a gauge that had various colour bulb sleeves (used the green one to match the dash. Looks a little different in pics but in the flesh is the same colour.

Sorry for blurry illumination, camera not good. My excuse anyway.

Also few pics to show the polished cam cover / inlet manifold that I also cleaned this week and a few other parts under the bonnet.

The TT shifter was a let down as I found out that the VRS has this anyway as standard. Although gave me chance to adjust the linkage (instructions in haynes manual), so now very positive throough 1st and 3rd gears.

Cheers Rob. Not really had to do much work to keep it clean.

nice like all the polished stuff. good job on the coilovers you like a bit off copper slip 2:rofl::rofl:;)

were you get your strut brace from

Looks like the standard S3 strut brace that I have also got on mine, these are available from any Audi dealer, part number is:-

8L9-805-629A

Lower S3 stut brace is part number:- 8NO-199-404B

With the lower one, you will need two bolts N104-679-01 and two nuts N909-147-01

Easy peesy to fit.

Lookin great there mate!!!!

Surely though your boost gauge is the wrong one?? The engine runs on negetive boost i.e. -15 psi to 20 psi??

Does that make sense....?

Steve:)

what do you meen?

what do you meen?

On tickover these engines run on negetive (vacume) boost - roughly -15psi, most turbo boost gauges display -30psi to + 30psi.

I dare say someone else will explain more.......

Gerry is correct, the strut brace is the Audi S3 item. reasonable price to get from the dealer. I have the lower brace too. It is true that the Boost gauge does not read negative. All this means is that the needle does not move till the boost kicks in. Fine by me. Also don't get that needle vibration when it hovers between negative and positive boost. (someone on here is bound to say get the no buzz T piece). Plus the auto meter gauge is a quality item.

The gauge works on pressure only as opposed to vacuum and pressure, which is fine and serves the purpose perfectly well.
