Skoda Favorit Forman 89-94 Lowering Springs kit 120178 on eBay, also Suspension Components, Performance Tuning Parts, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Nov-08 15:34:40 GMT)

I could only ever find some 35mm drop's in store's, I wanted more.

I guess I would settle at 40mm :)

When the springs settle how close would the wheels be to the arches roughly? I ask because I'm told that your car wont just sit 40mm lower it settles lower still.

the car may not actually end up 40mm lower, it may not look any different at all, but it will be stiffer

Do you think it would be wise to change the shocks along with the springs? The shocks as they are are in good condition. And what of the body-roll? Will I lose a bit?

it depends how many pennies you have burning a hole through your pocket, although it is not necessary to fit new dampers, it may be a good idea as a preventative measure whilst you have it all apart, also i would fit new top mounts too, bear in mind also that stiffer springs will put more strain/shock loading on you ball joints and suspension bushes so if they are hanging on by thier finger nails i'd change them at the same time....

you will see a reduction in body roll, but the ultimate answer is to whack an anti-roll bar on there

Yeah I thought as much.

I remember posting about anti roll bars on the Favorit and I would have to replace bottom arms and drill holes for the mounts. But.. would I have to replace the bottom arms or just drill holes for mounts on the ones allready there? And do felicia's have ARB's as standard for me to pinch one from? or would I have to modify one from another car thats about the right size?

i'm not 100% sure but i don't think felicia track control arms won't fit a favorit without modification, the rear bushes are different, but it might be possible.. best get yourself up the scrapper to have a fiddle with some stuff and try fitting one from a felicia with the bits you have availble to you..

you won't be able to just drill holes for the arb mounting because the ones which have an arb have an extra lug on them

With the springs I wonder if they are in fact rated at 35mm but they say 40mm on ebay to make it sound better. If I understand correctly, when you use shorter springs, the shock absorbers will move up and down on bits they previously didn't so are more prone to wearing out the seals.

As I understand it from other posts I have seen, Felicia track control arms are a direct swap with the favorit's - and someone on skoda-forum.com fitted an arb to a favorit simply by replacing the arms and drilling the front subframe in the appropriate place for the mountings there.

Here's the piccies posted by ken from skoda-forum.com of the job he did on his favorit.

what was the ARB off?

that's a standard felicia arb

Went to the tat yard earlier they had 2 Felicia's.

Guess where they where?

On the floor without wheels with car's stacked ontop. plain unlucky!

So looks like I will be waiting untill next weekend to be buying the ARB and bottom arms.

I would consider looking into buying the arms new as you'll have new bottom ball joints, and I don't think they cost too much. They'll probably be quite a bit of hassle to get off at the scrappies - but at least it would be good practice.

Well I'm off up to the scrappie in Willinhall next weekend for the first stop if the car isn’t on the floor or they will lift it up for me I'll make sure that it’s in good condition. One of the bottom arms on my car is new anyway I guess I could use the ball joint from that if it came to it

Just how much of a difference will the ARB make as it is now? I mean standard suspension setup?
