VRS/Scout snow chains

Featured Replies

My 05 Elegance estate is due to be changed early next year and Im looking at getting either a VRs estate or a Scout.

Both of these seem to be fitted with 17in wheels and I cant find anywhere that sells snow chains for this size wheel on these models. Some places even say they definitely cannot be fitted.

Skoda themselves do not appear to list chains for either of these models so Im assuming its a nono.

As we have a place in the Pyrenees this is a must for me in the winter.

Has anyone got any ideas on this, surely as a 4 wheel drive car the Scout must be able to take chains. It seems crazy to make a 4 x 4 that cant take chains.

As its a company car Im not about to shell out for smaller alternative sets of wheels and tyres even if this would be legal.

scout winter tyres sit on 16inch rims these should take chains and leave clearance.

Got some for my Scout:

Brindley Chains. brindley-chains.co.uk

Always very helpful, just bought my 4th or 5th set from them, different cars over the years.

They had no record for Scout, e-mailed Brenta in Austria, got back to me later the same day.

Had what I needed in stock, arrived in 48 hours, £60 all in and delivered.

Always had Brenta C, stock code XMR75 for the Scout.

Haven't test fitted but not expecting problems.

Very happy with company over the years.

Happy hols.

Why not try autosocks or michelin easygrip they should both fit a standard scout 17" wheel. Though I am unsure as to whether or not the police approve them for alpine road use.

Buy in france at "norauto", french halfords , never been stuck for size or fitment
