Vauxhall Insignia - my first spot

Featured Replies

Looks very american at the front.

The back window looks very strange, and I havent seen a boot lip that big since my Mk3 626.

Bloody Hell that looks really Fugly!

Looks very cumbersome, needs MUCH bigger wheels to make it look right.

I don't like the look of that at all :thumbdwn:

Not my cup of tea either. I'm seeing Jag XF, some Lexus and a bit of Mazda 6 all mixed up :thumbdwn:

Saw some on the back of a transporter last week and they had nice big wheels, didn't look too bad up close and personal.

I think the early pics seen on here were very flattering. These on the other hand look quite poor.

TBH I still think the prettiest repmobile saloon is the Mondeo.

:sofahide:

I'm not a fan of that I'm afraid.

I just did a little sick into my mouth....

Having sat in one at the Motorshow a few months back.......it's a case study in hoe to make £26K (yes, a fully loaded one will set you back £26,000!) feel cheap.

Really was worrying how cheap it felt - lots of soft touch plastics, but the cheap end of it all the way.

OK, bits of the fully loaded Mondeo at the show also felt cheap, but it's not a truly new model and not £26K.

Agree - boot lip is enormous, and looks like it has two boot lips. Pointless.

Mondeo looks a million times better.

It almost makes the Vectra look appealing.......what am I saying!!?!?

Goodness me, it really is bad!

Was seeing more proton gen 2 than any of those in it, or is it just me

That's my issue with Ford and Vauxhall too.

Considering how many of them they shift, why are they a) so expensive, B) so bland and c) have cheap and nasty/plasticy interiors?

I was lucky enough (or not depending on your opinion!) to go to one of the Insignia preview days at Millbrook proving ground.

Firstly I agree with Gwilo, interior was a bit cheap and parts of the interior moved eg the surround of the little joystick controller thing.

On the bowl we were not supposed to go over 100mph, but i thought it's a once in a lifetime chance so took the cars up to about an indicated 125mph...didn't get too told off. You could also take the cars on the hilly route.

I drove the 160 diesel, the turbo and the V6...they were all OK but ultimately left me cold. They also had competitor cars there to try out too, drove a new Accord (it was petrol and needed thrashing, but otherwise very nice) a 318d SE, a new audi A4 and a Mondeo....interestingly there was no C5 or Superb there.

The insignia has one thing going for it, it is very handsome...very Jag like over the rear arches..but it didn't light any fires for me and I'm still choosing a new Superb as my new company car.

If you ever get the chance to drive at Millbrook don't miss it, it was a really enjoyable experience.

An interesting post and one I'd tend to agree with even though Ive not driven one yet. I drew the same conclusions about interior build quality having seen it at the Motorshow in London and a Roadshow in Birmingham but maintain that its a good looking car but not necessarily in White and with titchy wheels!

Makefish, you are spot on re the wheels; it looked great with 19" wheels (they also offer 20" on the SRI) but looked terrible with the smaller (think they were 16" or 17" ) wheels.

I wonder if it's just because it's a bit of an image shock for a Vectra? Previous generation Vectras were always pretty conservative looking (and I think didn't look too bad at all . . . not exciting, but smart) whenas this is a little more outlandish.

I wonder if we're rapidly seeing the same "NCAP shaping disease" that appears to afflict small hatches (making them all look the same) speading to larger cars? :(

I'm not saying anything until I see one.

I saw the car at the London Motorshow and thought it looked o.k but was very dependent on the colour:looked best in black and dark metallics. I agree about the interior and the feel of the materials inside however : Nasty.

How do you get invited on one of these motoring testing junkets by the way, have always fancied going on one.

It just looks like they got the balance all wrong with the back end :(

Oh my god, massive FAIL

Must have some Peugeot designers working at Vauxhall now
