According to the manual my 2005 CD changer will accept a re-writable CD is this correct?

Can this unit play MP3 / WMA file format?

Has any one tried this?

My changer will take rewriteables with no problems but mp3s only work in the head unit. It doesn't accept wma either.

my 55 plate Octavia L&K plays CD-r/rw in both the single slot dash Stream player and the cd changer in the boot. Unfortunately unless your stream unit is the later 'mp3' model (usually says on the facia) it will not play mp3's. AFAIK the changer never has.

if you have an audience hu, the builtin changer can play MP3's.

Can the changer be 'changed' to one that will? Or even an aftermarket one?

not as far as im aware, but as a cd holds around 6-10 cd's worth of music you looking at up to 13 hours from one disc. when we drove to cornwall for holiday i think we had the same disc on going down there and around and didnt need to change it till near the end of the holiday.

Stream = Recordables in headunit and Changer but no MP3

Stream MP3 = Recordables in headunit and Changer but MP3 in headunit slot only

Audience = Recordables and MP3 in all 6 slots in head unit.

Might get an MP3 player and do it that way! Got the jumbo box thingy.
