VRS Poly bushes - help - quick question and opinions

Featured Replies

I am going to order some Poly bushes (Super Pro) ones to replace the following:

Front control arm (inner front and inner rear)

ARB Link

ARB Chassis

Dog Bone.

I have read quite a bit about this upgrade and along with my new 22mm Whiteline Adj RARB having now been ordered it should transform the car from what others have quoted.

Firstly do I require the ARB Link bushes or do we have solid joints for the link arms - 04 VRS 1.8T (180)

But I have a quick question before the order goes through - is this all going to make the car to harsh or just an overall (firmer) handling imporovement.

Are there better options than Poly Bushes - perhaps Audi TT or Leon Cupra - are these later options more costly and worth the extra and are these bushes direct replacements or additonal modifications required.

Cheers guys

Ok I'll try and help

1: You do not need ARB link bushes you have solid links

2: Harshness is reduced I found when I fitted the arb and control arm bushes although my old bushes where knackered. The dogbone bush will however cause an increase in vibration but this will settle to pretty much stock levels over 500 - 1000 miles or so.

3: Poly's are probably the best option and are straight fit with no mods.

4: Audi TT control arm rear solid bush (The big bush) part number 8N0407181B iirc is perhaps a better bush for this location as this bush in poly version creaks when wet on mine where the wet rubber flexs on the wishbone.

Overall I highly recommend superpro they will give more solid feel than the standard kit

Does that help?

Brilliant just what I was after

Thanks

Done it - not harsh, firmer maybe. The single biggest harshness is big wheels/low profile tyres. a 15'' rim drive is chalk and cheese over the pot holes even to a 16'' let alone the 17'' vrs which smashes over them (if you think it doesn't, you haven't driven in a mercedes recently).

Make sure you get the alignment 4 wheel laser checked when done.
