No need to be mean about it. Thought this was a friendly forum? :(

Can all of you honestly say you have declared every single mod on every car?

We don't have to be friendly to people driving like ****s , and in answer to your question , yes I can.

Glad no one was hurt, shame about the car, but these things happen.

You`ll find on these forums, they`ll be plenty on their high horses when it comes to declared mods, but i know that for every one person saying "iv decared all my modds", theres another thinking, "i havent, and im saying nothing". Esp when it comes to maps (im not going into the in`s and outs`s of it all).

And I'll happily phone the local cop shop or report it to the insurance fraud hotlines if I ever find out regardless of who it is.

It's not a high horse, it's that some people think the law doesn't apply to them. I've almost been killed by one and *everyone* has to pay for them.

I'm sick of paying for them, so they can f**k right off as far as I'm concerned.

FWIW I do a lot or work with flash, and you can always tell if a flash has been rewritten then programmed back, so it just depends on how hard the insurance co or police want to look.

I'd guess if you seriously injure another party or kill somebody, that would be pretty hard, especially if they had any hint that the car was played with.

Looking at them photos of the fabia s.e. should be enough to slow a fiew drivers down good job the driver didn't hurt anyone else in the crash.

i have one of the S/E and if it ever looked like that think i would kill ma self .. i tell it stores at night before i tuck it in ((((VRS 493 S/E))))

Thats a damn shame waste of a decent motor:thumbdwn:

I would love one of these SE spec Fabia's but couldn't afford one:( so had to settle for now a standard vRS in silver:rolleyes:

Where is it located??

Looks like it is down here in wiltshire where i live. There is one of U.Salvage's yards:)

Shop them then, im not stopping you :)

You being nearly killed by someone is a different thing to uninsured drivers? I suspect the spineless little **** would have ****ed off whatever the status on his insurence. Even then, i suspect it wasnt someone with a undeclared map who hit you was it?!

Im not going into the in`s and out`s of "how to cover it up" nor am i condoning it, all im sayin is there plenty of peeps who do what this young lad has done. Hopefully he`ll learn from his mistakes.

I'm just stating that your post almost advocates not declaring and that isn't something that anyone should be considering.

On the cover it up front trust me you can't totally cover it up. You can always read the information you would need to show reprogramming within the internal structure of the actual flash chip itself. Might need to take the ECU on a bench or to pieces but you can.

Regardless of which, think of the other poor person you might hit. If you're uninsured then they lose their no claims and the MIB only pay out if you don't have comprehensive insurance. Hence my point of view on it.

Anyway, it's not personal, it's just something I feel very strongly about for what I feel is good reason.

Let us know what he gets from the court, what evidence have they got of dangerous driving? Has he admitted to it?

At a guess, damage to car and roadside furniture + being on the wrong side of the carriageway. Plus any skid marks.

at least his insurance paid out. His car was remapped but not declared. Needed a curb and railings replaced.

Then Barrie ordered a MINT card and the Clever/Dumb balance was restored

Yep... 'nuff said.

Glad he's ok but what a shame, i'd give an arm and a leg for one of those... and now there's one less when I have the chance to buy one!

well i didnt mean to sound like that, im in no way sayin it should be done at all. As said, we all pay for it in the end so im in agreement with ya

Plus insurance fraud if the CPS are looking hard enough ;)

I realy love this site. so much convo.

On a lighter note I think you have a bit of a cheek trying to defend the actions of an obvious To55 pot who thinks thinks that RACEING up and down on a dual carridge way to get a top speed it fun. regardless of the brake fade he was obviosuly going too fast. I hope when he goes to court he gets banned and sent to prision. I am fed up of sh!t bricks like this causeing accoidents and then putting my insurance up........ I also have had a relative who was killed in a road accident because someone was doing exactly the same as this..... didn't brake for the roundabout and hit my uncal head on. He should never be allowed to drive again in my view. I am not a police man and don't want to go out telling people how to drive, but i think this guy needs to grow up....:finger::finger:

And yes I have declared all my Mods my insurance was cheeper with them declaired because then they knew i wasn't hiding anything
