Help meeeeeeee!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Desperate plea for help. My vRS has been in the body shop for a new nearside wing and both doors. It was due to be delivered back today but my missus has just had a call from them to say that the engine management light has come on and the engine is miss-firing

Now considering that the car was running perfectly before, what could they have done to it? Could it be that the battery has been disconnected for a couple of weeks and the ECU needs to reset itself with a bit of a drive?

Cheers

Keith

Could be a coil pack that has gone, get them to check it with a code reader or VagCom.

Dont drive it, as if the coil pack has gone then it could do the cat in.

:iagree: coilpack almost certainly though a code scan is still required to confirm this.

Oh and coilpack failure often occur's with no warning so it's unlikely the garage caused the problem

I agree!

If it's had a knock to the nearside, maybe the MAF sensor has been disturbed. Someone else had this exact problem.

It shouldn't misfire though.... So depends on how sure they are on that misfire really.

Try disconnecting the MAF and see what happens....

If it makes no difference, you know it's a coil pack.

Is there any wiring inside the N/S wing which could have been disturbed?

Coil packs are a common problem, but I would have a good look round first for any plugs which might have been left disconnected following the bodywork.

Thanks for the replies, unfortunately the car is still at the body shop so I cannot get to check anything out at the moment. I havent even seen it to check out the quality of the body repair yet. I am told that a local dealer is looking at the car at the moment, but they do seem very vague about it all. I think I will have to sic the missus on them tomorrow if they dont sort it, and they dont want that ;) .
